I think its a reasonable deal for a player that will probably play ~60%? of plays, maybe a little more ... just my speculation. I think it makes the defense a little better and able to rotate pass rushers to keep them fres
i hope he is on 60% he is debatable for the third best EDge, right now i would take Browning over Clark or Gregory and i believe Browning is our best edge.

Are we really sitting here debating depth in one of the most important spots in the NFL these days?

Frank is still 29 years old, he's not to the point (yet) where he's fallen off the cliff. The more I think about this signing the more excited I'm getting for our defense!! Browning will only get better and with the addition of Allen and now Clark we can afford to rotate these guys and keep fresh legs out there. Gregory should have a huge bounce back year too.

We have a good secondary and a great pass rush could make our good secondary a great one. I'm expecting lots of turnovers this season

I agree. As long as he has "something" left and contributes as a rotational guy for the pass rush. His salary for us is reasonable. Even if he doesn't get the numbers (sacks), it's all about pressure off the edge. Hopefully he feels he has a point to prove in the AFC West, because I think KC in the end gave a 1st and 2nd for him, and he got a fat contract at the time for a DE. I don't think he actually had the impact in KC that matched what KC gave up in terms of draft capitol and salary. But he seems to wake up in the play offs. Let's hope is awake for week 1.

Quality game day depth is essential for optimum defensive performance, and this signing facilitates that.

Part of Clark’s value is showing the young players how to be professionals.

And I would include Gregory in the group with Browning, Bonitto and Cooper.

Hoping Clark has “ enough left in the tank” to be an impact player on his own but his impact in the meeting rooms and practice may be even more invaluable. Similar as K. Jackson in the secondary meeting rooms.

That is of course dependent on him being a respected mentor. Anyone heard anything about him as a teammate that would indicate otherwise?

Seattle traded Clark at the right time.

He hasn't done much since... except, when the playoffs start, he steps up his game.

That could change but who knows.

Considering Frank was getting over 17M with Seattle and then signed a 5 year 104M contract with the Chiefs in 2019, then re-signing/restructure with the Chiefs in 2022 season a 2 year deal for over 30M (15M/yr) ... I think the Broncos did a good job of signing him for what is likely a good value. His base is 5.5M, the Chiefs have dead money of 7.675M still from him.
The bad news is Baron Browning is questionable for the start of the season now... hopefully he is ready by the last preseason game?

You need to check your facts. Seattle never paid Clark anywhere close to $17M for one year.

Clark was drafted in the 2nd round by Seattle and was on a standard 4-year rookie contract, which paid him a total of $3.8M over four years. He was traded to KC before starting his 5th year.

                    smh

I'll be more specific without re-looking it up ... he signed a contract with Seattle for over 17M avg per year. I don't recall how many years he played under that contract. He could have been traded that year? The point still stands that they apparently felt he was worth that and then the Chiefs offered a contract for even more. His value per Spotrac (for what its worth?) is over 12M. Considering all that, the Broncos got him at, what looks like, a good value. Is Seattle good at contracts/value negotiations? It appears that way when looking at the Russell deal and probably the Clark deal, but on the other hand, Clark has 2 rings since he left Seattle... Chiefs have been in 3 SB's lately, winning 2 ... how many has Seattle won lately?

I re-looked at the Clark/Seattle contract thing in 2019... I did miss that Seattle designated Clark a franchise player, meaning he'll play 2019 on a one-year deal worth $17.128 million, per NFL.com. Instead they traded him to the Chiefs. He did sign the tag but only when the trade was imminent.

Right. After signing the tag, Seattle traded Frank and a 2019 3rd round pick to the Chiefs for KC's 1st and 3rd 2019 picks, and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2020. After the trade, Frank signed a five year $104 million contract with $62.3 million guaranteed including a $19 million signing bonus. Don't think the details of his contract with Denver have been fully shown but, whatever they are, it pales in comparison to what Frank got from KC.

Super excited for our defense with this addition!! If we can get Clark to be the guy we all think he can be our pass rush (baring injuries) will be very active and productive!! I bet Jordon Love gets sacked at least 5 times

As far as I can tell, Frank played DE in a split front in Seattle and KC, probably in a 3-point. In Denver, he'll most likely be OLB in a 2-point off, or on in that little split-front/nickel w/standup DEs that Fangio and Evero use, and which Joseph may show. This and other differences were probably taken into consideration before signing him. It was timely because it may take a while before Browning is back up to speed. Even with that, Denver should have enough Outside Backers for a good two-deep game day rotation. At the moment they have nine OLBs which provides good competition.

It’s been reported that it’s a one year $5.5 million deal with $2 million in incentives for a possible $7.5 million total contract.
