  • Rex Ryan on First Take

Just said Denver is the highest scoring team per possession in the NFL on OFFENSE.

He said he has no clue what is going on with the defense and then said it was going to be number 1 in the league if he got the coordinator job.

I think we all knew we'd be screwed on defense the second VJ was named DC.

Hopefully Payton rights this ship as soon as the season ends. And I only say 'as soon as the season ends' rather than right now because I don't think you can install a new defensive system during the season but I would be ecstatic if we did fire VJ right now and just let an assistant run the defense and then bring in Rex or anyone else not named Vance Joseph in the off-season.

Vance has never proven to be a good DC. His system seems to require really good pressure from the front 4 to be any good... We don't have that. We probably aren't getting that. I think Like he's need Aaron Donald or Myles garrett upfront for his system to be viable. Its seems any passing route over the middle is always open when the opposing QB finishes drop back. Zach Allen was a poor signing.

I think it would be a very positive move if Denver could land Rex Ryan as DC.

They had a 21-3 lead and the offense failed to do their part in protecting that lead.

Rex Ryan is also the coach that took one of the best defenses in the league and turned it into one of the worst in Buffalo.

Rex Ryan might be a little bias with that statement.

I just took it as he may have been way more interested in the job than we thought.

Seemed a little hurt over it. Wonder what the final outcome of him vs Vance came down to?

Was it money? (I may have missed that during the off-season)

I'd take Rex right now. The Defence isn't going to get any better with VJ - it just isn't.

It may also have been the league's requirements in hiring diverse candidates.

Except that requirement doesn’t exist. The pool of candidates is what has to diverse, to an extent.

SP and Rex on the sideline would have been a sight.

I was still shocked when we hired VJ again. Did him and Sean have a past?

According to league data, the percentage of people of color in coaching positions increased from 35% in 2020 to 39% in 2021.
