  • Good Morning Everybody!

Today is Wednesday May 30th the 150th day of the year with 215 to go. It is also the "official" Memorial Day. :usa:

102 days until we head to Buffalo.

JWinn is getting that SPF30 ready.

    Today's Question:

Who was the first Broncos' player to rush for more than 100 yards in a regular-season game?

Gotta reach way back for this one.

    • Getting ready to head out so here is today's answer.

This was a tough one today that even made me say.... Who????

Don Stone gained 104 yards in a 50-34 victory over San Diego in 1963

I was only 1 year old and living in Cincinnati at the time.

        • How is everyone on this beautiful morning?

It is Friday  June 1st the 152nd day of the year with 213 days to go.

100 days until Buffalo. Gonna crack the double digits tomorrow at 99 days.

JWinn just can't get out of town fast enough.

Today's question has somewhat been discussed already in this thread but here it is:

What player passed for more than 3,000 yards in the Broncos' inaugural season in 1960?

George Herring is in the team photo for 1960 so I am assuming he was the one.

I believe Frank took over after the first game or two when they needed somebody to step up. In an interview on the History of Denver Broncos DVD, he mentions how they rarely ran the ball and that is why he was able to rack up big passing stats.

                    Frank's Stats:

                    Number: 18
                    Position: Quarterback
                    Year Inducted: 1986
                    Years with Broncos: 1960-63

Then: Frank Tripucka is also one of the original Broncos, playing for the team from 1960-63. Tripucka led the Broncos to their first ever .500 season in 1962 (7-7). He formed half of the Tripucka-to-Lionel Taylor passing combination, as the duo (both Ring of Famers) went on to set various marks together. Tripucka's best statistical season came in 1960 when he completed 248 of 478 passes (51.9%) for 3,038 yards and 24 touchdowns. His 447 yards passing against Buffalo (9/15/62) still stands as the team record, and he shares the team record for most touchdown passes in a game with five (10/28/62 vs. Buffalo). Tripucka also played in the AFL All-Star Game in 1962.

Now: Tripucka is a retired beer distributor. He currently resides in New Jersey.

                    Tripucka's Denver Broncos Career Record
Att...... Comp..... Pct....... Yds..... TD.... INT
                    1,277.... 622....... 51.8..... 7676... 51..... 85

And a side note...Frank's son, Kelly Tripuka was a pretty good basketball player for Notre Dame/Detroit Pistons in the 80's.

                        • Here is the fun fact for the weekend June 2/3

Randy Gradishar and Tom Jackson each intercepted more passes (20) than any other linebackers in Broncos' history.

Those two guys were forces to be reckoned with!!!

                          Have a great weekend everyone!!

If it is a trivia question, I will obviously allow time to guess the answer. I also rarely get on line over the weekend, so on Friday's I will post the Saturday and Sunday fun facts.

Feel free to discuss any of the facts or trivia questions and GO BRONCOS!!

                              April 24th:

Defensive tackle Paul Smith (1968-1978), a member of the club's ring of fame, was the first man to play 10 seasons in a Bronco's uniform.

                              I did not know this.

Hey glad to see someone else is doing this. I used the desktop calender as a trivia based thread last year and gave out cp's to the 1st 5 correct answers. I will be watching and try to participate in it. Thanks again.

Youll have to add the Charl Hornets to that list as well, I saw him play twice their first year.
