Yes. They tried to keep Warren on the PUP list, but sometime in October he had to have surgery which ended his season. Same thing is possible with Hunter. Try and imagine trying to fend off 330 lbs. DTs with a torn triceps.

This is a big chance for Robert Ayers to show if he can step up. This is his 3rd year and he'd be relegated to backing up Dumervil. That's a sign that Fox & Del Rio aren't happy with him since Doom doesn't come off the field that much.

This gives Ayers one last chance. If he doesn't step it up this season don't expect to see him around next year because Fox & Co. have ZERO invested in Robert Ayers. The guy who drafted him is long gone.

    Or Derek Wolfe

A starting lineup of Dumervil - Bannan - Warren - Wolfe looks NASTY

I know Ayers probably happy, then again, they might end up starting Wolfe.

Hunter suffers torn tricep, out for two months

"The Denver Broncos held the Chicago Bears to 36 yards rushing in the preseason opener, a positive development for a Broncos defensive line that loomed as a suspect unit entering the season.

Tuesday's injury to starting defensive end Jason Hunter puts a damper on the festivities. Hunter, who moved ahead of Robert Ayers in the lineup two weeks ago, suffered a triceps tear in practice Tuesday that could keep him off the field for up to two months and might end his season, The Denver Post reported.

Hunter was hurt slamming into a blocking sled during drills, the newspaper reported. The injury likely shifts Ayers or rookie Derek Wolfe into the first wave of lineman in Denver's 4-3 base scheme, but Hunter will be missed. The seventh-year veteran has been a spirited member of the defense during camp, constantly jawing with offensive linemen and drawing praise from new coordinator Jack Del Rio.

The Broncos' line already was a concern. The performance against the Chicago Bears was encouraging, because nothing will help Peyton Manning's transition more than a defense that wins the time of possession and prevents opponents from grinding it out on the ground. So far so good, but Denver can't afford more bad luck on the injury front.

UPDATE: The Associated Press confirmed that Hunter suffered a torn triceps Tuesday that will sideline him at least two months and could cost him the entire season."

Damn, that is bad news for Hunter who looked like he was having a very strong camp. This will be the time for either Ayers, Biel or even Wolfe to step up. I love having depth on this D Line!

That's a shame. I like Hunter as a starter much more than Robert Ayers. It'll be interesting to see if Derek Wolfe moves ahead of Robert Ayers, or if Ayers doesn't take his demotion lightly and fights hard for that job.
