DJ is better against the run Woodyard is better against the pass, DJ is a better leader (but still not a real one), Woodyard is more respectable.

That said we wont get much out of DJ anyway and the team does play better with him on the field from what stats ive seen.

Not the smartest guy in the world for sure but personally I'm glad there are people out there who wont take Goodell's crap lying down. I am not a fan of Goodell and hope his run is short.

Hopefully it doesn't effect the decisions to come, and it shouldn't really - not legally. Who knows, maybe this will actually help. Maybe Goodell will have an introspective look at how being a hardnose strict commish isn't the only way to play [LOLOL]. I mean this is football for crying out loud. Don't be so hypocritical

Having said this, DJ is hard headed and likely will not be rehabilitated as a result of clemency or leniency. Might as well make the punishment worth it and stand up to what you believe in.

We are talking about a guy that supposibly used a Wisanator full of "none human" urine here... I mean he could have had a cousin or friend pee in cup, not his dog sparky...

Personally I think DJ is inhuman - in fact he's claimed this on more than one occasion anyhow. It's all a misunderstanding

Wesley Woodyard may be ready to take the reigns. But it's a dropoff at the position.
I agree completly, personally I think he is the modern day Ian Gold...

You can have both. That's the thing. You can have Woodyard fill in. But come the crucial backstretch of the season...and playoffs...I'm taking the proven 8 year starter over the career backup who's best suited for a nickel role ALL DAY. We're in win now mode. And it would probably help to have your 3rd-4th best defender on the field when the chips are on the table.

Woodyard's good in coverage because he's basically a big safety. But, like D.J., he still can't cover the better TE's in the league...so it doesn't make that much of a difference.

If you want to cut D.J. because he's a bad guy...fine...just say it (although I think it's dumb). But don't say Woodyard can fill in without acknowledging that DJ would be mighty nice to have on the field against McFadden, Ray Rice, Richardson, Charles/Hillis at the end of the season. Not to mention in the playoffs. Doing so is dishonest if you know ANYTHING about the game of football.

Besides, no one likes Goodell anyways.
Exactly! If I owned a restaurant and he stopped to eat, all I can say is he better not order the French Toast!

Not only that, but it's a franchise type place, where the 3 players just put up the money to finance it. You people on here make it seem like in the off-season DJ is running the register, Beason is on the smoker, and Vilma is in the back making potato salad. These guys probably haven't seen this place in months and aside from being the money more than likely have little to no dealings in the day-to-day. But since this off-season has been the DJ bash-o-rama, proceed.........

If/when D.J. comes back do you really think that he will be ready to step right in to the starting role? I guarantee that he will stay in shape but he will basically be out of football for 10 - 12 weeks. Who knows when he will work his way back into the practice rotation in which he will definitely not be getting 1st or 2nd team reps.

I really wish that D.J. hadn't put himself and the organization into this situation as I do like what he brings to the field. Yet because of the decisions he has made, he is voiding a valuable roster spot for almost 2/3rds of the season and potentially the whole season if he is not up to speed by the time he can come back. Even with that said it would be pointless to cut him at this point because he doesn't cost us a dime while suspended, we are ultra thin at the position and it will give the coaching staff time to see how handles his time off. However if one of the younger players should step in and show promise at "Will" or Williams doesn't work his tail off during his vacation, I can all but guarantee that he won't be Bronco in 2013.

I would be worried if DJ was getting paid during his suspension time...but he's not. I think his value in the playoffs (alone) is worth a roster spot honestly. TBH...special teams is grossly overrated...especially these days when no one returns kickoffs.

I think the fact that he's a physical freak...and the fact that he'll have the last 4-6 games of the regular season to get back up to speed...it still makes him an asset if we're playing the Baltimore Ravens or Houston Texas or someone similar in the playoffs.

It's almost like..."hey, our defense has been pretty good all year...but we have this guy D.J. whose been the most consistent player on the team for nearly a decade alongside Champ...I think he can help us when the big time games come around."

I certainly agree that his future is questionable beyond this year. I just think he provides too much value...in the games that matter (i.e. late season games and playoffs) to outright cut him...ESPECIALLY WHEN HE'S NOT GETTING PAID.

That's been my perspective all along.

He counts against a roster spot while out?

No but he has to be taken into consideration because we are thin at LB and a guy we might keep to back up the position, could push out a promising player at another position during cut days.

I actually do not know the answer to that question. But if he DOESN'T...then that's all the more reason to keep him. In fact, we have nothing to lose by keeping him in that case.

He can be replaced while suspended as far as I know. He also counts against the cap. The team had to do something with his wages like pay them to the league and then they go to charity or something like that.

He is worth keeping around I think. Until the end of the season.
