  • What first-year-eligible candidates will make HOF--- 7 Broncos on list

The 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame field was announced Wednesday, and there are 16 first-year eligible nominees. Will players such as Marvin Harrison and Walter Jones receive the call to Canton on their first try?

How on earth is Warrick Dunn being considered ? ! !

Seven Broncos on 2014 HoF nominee list

Running back Terrell Davis and wide receiver Rod Smith are among the seven Denver Broncos nominated for the 2014 NFL Hall of Fame class.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 126 modern-era nominees for its class of 2014. Only two to five of those 126 will be elected.

The seven former Bronco players who made the first cut: Running back Terrell Davis, receiver Rod Smith, center Tom Nalen, linebacker Karl Mecklenburg, safeties Steve Atwater and John Lynch, and coach Dan Reeves.

The voting for the 2014 NFL Hall of Fame Class will take place on Feb. 1 during the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee’s annual meeting. The results will be announced live that evening.
All those guys should probably be in except maybe Reeves imo. How on earth is Randy Gradishar not on the list?

Michael Irvin is in the HoF and Rod Smith has more all-pros, yards and touchdowns than he does with only 1 less superbowl.

rod smith is not a cowboy, irvin was, so it makes perfect sense that rod who was twice the football player has been snubbed.
When they vote in TD I will consider canton as something more than just another town to go bowling in ohio.

I think Gradishar has to be put in by Senior Committee similar to Floyd Little since it's been more the 25 years since he retired

Ha, yea. When voters and fans of other teams try to explain why players like Rod (it's pretty funny listening to their reasoning) and other Broncos greats don't get into the HoF, things like All-Pros, pro bowls, how they did in the playoffs etc. always come into play (just excuses for not acknowledging the great players that they were). I've heard that some of our players never won the big game as an excuse (Gradishar, Mecklenburg) etc., and then when it comes to TD the injury excuse always comes into play like it's ok to just ignore the fact that he was the greatest postseason back OF ALL TIME even though he had a short career.

The HoF will be nothing but a joke until TD gets there. Simply put.

I love TD as much as anyone here but I am really starting to question his HOF credentials. A great player for certain during a small window but his career was so short I don't now if that would put him in.

Rod smith, IMO should be there.

Where's Rod Smith? The most yards by an undrafted player in history

Look no further than Gale Sayers. He played about as long as TD & he is in the Hall, so i see no reason why TD shouldn't get in.

And Rod Smith should be a no brainer as well.

I know he is the reference for all regarding TD but is he an anomaly too?

Rod Smith is a MUST. The most yards by an undrafted player EVER! (Thus far)

I know the injury and shortened career is the biggest knock on him and probably what's holding him out. In his first 4 years though he broke the nfl record for most TDs by a player in their first 4 years and had these accomplishments:

                            3× Pro Bowl (1996, 1997, 1998)
                            3× All-Pro (1996, 1997, 1998)
2× Super Bowl champion (XXXII, XXXIII)
2× AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year (1996, 1998)
                            NFL MVP (1998)
                            PFWA NFL MVP (1998)
UPI AFL-AFC Player of the Year (1996)
                            Super Bowl MVP (1998)
                            NFL 1990s All-Decade Team
Single Season 2,000 Rushing Yards Club
                            Denver Broncos 50th Anniversary Team

There's a good number of HoF RBs that haven't received that many accolades. And he is the NFL all time leader in TDs and yards by a rb in the postseason I believe. To me that's hall-worthy.

Like I said I am a TD homer. I remember this summer listening to pat kirwin and ? Talking about rb's and the HOF. They broke down TD's career and it really put it in a perspective that maybe he isn't going to get there and for good reasons.
