  • Denver Broncos playoff picture: Broncos control their playoff destiny after sweep of

The Broncos are in the driver's seat and guaranteed the first seed, but only if we win out. The tricky thing is New England is second place and hold the tie over us. Can we win out? We only have room if New England loses a game.

Thoughts on the current playoff picture?

Simply put we control our own destiny at this point. No hoping for a loss from NE, just go out there every Sunday and win.

I actually think we'll end up facing them in the AFC Championship game.

NFL is probably praying for that.

Tennessee Titans, a pretty solid football team, is next.

        I liked Rosenthal's take on NFL.com:

"The Broncos have been extremely consistent this season, with their only two losses coming on the road against quality opponents. They are in great shape for homefield advantage."
I wish more Broncos fans would see this. No team has had higher highs than the Broncos, and no team has been better in their losses. Denver really could have won the two games they lost as well. 27 points is the lowest they've scored? They are just too consistent to not get in there at #1.

        On to Tennessee next!

Sam's right, Titans are not jokers. Certainly a different team without Locker and the key will be our defense getting Fitz to make his mistakes that he does so often.

Too true. Add KC and Dallas to road wins against playoff teams with the latter being an outlier in terms of points allowed. Average score is 38-26. The O/STs have turned the ball over in minus territory fairly regularly, so D is not allowing 26ppg. Solve the turnover problem and the margin of victory will expand. Running the ball more may cut down on points scored.

Due to San Diego being on the previous Thursday, the Broncos will have three extra days to heal up before visiting Houston. San Diego and Oakland will be challenging as well, as are all NFL opponents.

                  We will win out.

Look at the two games we lost. We barely lost to The Colts despite crucial turnovers and mistakes. We lost by a field in OT to New England in crap weather and winds in Foxborough. Isn't that a game where they're supposed to "kill us."

The Broncos are still the best team in football, because unlike Seattle and New Orleans we are seemingly good everywhere.

New England could very well lose @Baltimore. Those guys have had their number over the years. But we just need to take care of business and earn the 1 seed strait up.

I'm more worried about San Diego then any of the others. They always play us strong and Phyllis can keep up when he is hot. I don't think any of the others can keep up with our offense.

In one of my posts a few weeks ago, I had the same thought. This game with the Titans has been on my mind for a while, and I think it could prove to be a challenge for the Broncos. For that matter, after watching the way Houston played NE the other day, I think they may be up for a battle, too.

Anybody have any idea when we'll get Julius Thomas back? That will be huge for the offense and should help us outrun anybody who even thinks they might keep up.

He was almost going to play against KC, so I would assume he's in this week.

I have a feeling that if the Broncos won in Arrowhead without Julius, DRC and Wolfe, we may not see those guys again until Houston.
