Knowshon Moreno will be a hot commodity on the free agent market.

NFL Free Agency is always a hot topic, especially with the season coming to an end. Many running backs who changed teams last season struggled, while there were a few who performed above expectations. Every team is looking for a player to become their factor back for the upcoming season. After a breakout season, Knowshon Moreno will be the hottest RB on the free-agent market.

Let's get the criticism of Moreno out of the way.

Some may say that rushing for 1,000 yards this season was due to Peyton Manning running the offense for the Denver Broncos. Moreno has lost 10 fumbles since coming into the NFL. Moreno isn't consistent enough to be an every down RB.

Those three criticisms actually show why Moreno is going to be a highly sought-after free agent.

The 26-year-old Moreno has fumbled once in 241 rushing attempts this season. You may remember that he fumbled four times with more rushing attempts in his rookie season of 2009. Moreno continues to improve when running the football. He has gone from a RB that holds the ball wide to a sure-handed RB that holds the ball high and tight.

Other than running for 224 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 12, Moreno did not rush for over 100 yards in any game. It's pretty tough to do that when you are averaging 13 to 15 carries per game. The Broncos offense was focused on spreading the field and exploiting defenses through the air. But when Moreno's number was called to run the ball, he did it with efficiency. He was the perfect balance for a Manning-led passing attack.

    Jack Dempsey/Associated Press

Moreno started in all but one game this season, which is the first time he has done that in his brief career. Health is the biggest key for a running back. Moreno dealt with his own issues at the beginning of his career. His best years are ahead of him.

What Moreno brings to the football field is the last aspect of this analysis. Speed, physicality and versatility will separate him from the rest of the backs during free agency.

Moreno can burst through a hole in the defense and break out for a big run on any occasion, just ask New England. He can also be a physical back while running. Moreno doesn't spend time running to the outside, looking to turn a corner. He pushes his way through the defense and keeps pushing until the defense breaks down. That's when Moreno is at his best.

He can also help out in the passing game. Moreno recorded 548 yards as a receiver on 60 receptions. With NFL offenses becoming more versatile, having a versatile RB to play on all downs is important. Moreno has shown that he can do that.

It is still uncertain whether or not the Broncos are looking to bring back Moreno. If he does hit the market, however, then he will be a hot commodity.
I would have to agree. Depending on our cap situation and his current age/injury history (he's not that old but getting there), I think the Broncos may let him go. I still feel he signs a good deal for both sides and comes back though.

I would hate to lose Moreno. He was so pivotal to our team and PM trusts him implicitly. I don't think he leaves as I'm sure PM will do what he can to convince Elway to keep him.

I never worried about him fumbling either. Sure-handed and consistent. So proud of him. Love me some KnoMo.

When Moreno is healthy, he is worth the #1 pick some say we wasted on him.

Pay the man. He deserves it after helping this team win a Super Bowl (yes I know its early but we already know)

Besides PM, I actually think he's the MVP of our team.

Ball and Hillman will be fine with Anderson behind those 2.

Moreno is good but we need $$ spent at other positions

We need to resign him weeks after we win the SB. Marshan in great, Knowshon has a greater heart.

Hillman is a disaster and no one knows anything real about Anderson.

Knowshon won't make it to free agency.

I think this is true that we will loose him in free agency. He will be too expensive. Ball, Hillman, CJ and one more prospect can take the reigns.
                We will be fine.
And, for you Hillman haters....he will come back...trust me!

I think ball is ready to take knowshon's role. Let Moreno walk to a big contract elsewhere, hopefully with a ring.

                  Get that check baby!

If we offered him a deal and he took a better deal elsewhere would we gain a compensatory pick?

Tell me how Hillman is a disaster, the only thing he needs to clean up(even though he really don't..imo) are his fumbling issues other that,he's perfectly fine...
                      I support Kaepernick 100%

I might be wrong but i thought he was a restricted free agent?ir we had an option to bring him back? I would not be surprised at all if we franchised him..... I would franchise him before decker.... We can find another wr that manning can turn I to a stud. I really think decker is the one we should be worried about losing do to big contract. To me Moreno brings more to the table.

I think if Manning stays (and I think he will regardless), Decker will want to stay. Especially when he considers Thomas his brother. Not every player will demand the big bucks. He may, but I think he will take a decent offer to stay in Denver with the chance of winning a second SB.

Moreno...I haven't been too quiet about my opinion on him. I think he was decent at best. He is perfect for Denver's type of offense where they don't run it a lot and have a massive passing attack and can receive the ball through the air. That's it. He hasn't thrived at all until this season...his big contract year. He won't thrive (and I wouldn't even consider this year as thriving) on a team that relies on a ground-and-pound offense.

What the writer got wrong is that he is not fast. He doesn't break the long gains. He had maybe one or two this season?

If I was going to make a play for a RB, it would be for McFadden. He's fast and I think we would take a good gamble on a guy who *could* really thrive in Denver's offense and turn into an Adrian Peterson type player with teams playing the pass and not stacking the box. I think we could use a big, strong and fast RB.

Why would you want Darren McFadden aka I can't make it through a full season?
