    - Peyton Manning carries green football at practice -

(Peyton Manning was spotted carrying around a bright green football at practice Wednesday, but refused to explain why.)

"Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning carried around an unusual accessory at the team's first practice of the season Wednesday -- a green football.

The five-time league MVP refused to talk about just why he was carrying the bright green, lycra-covered ball after the practice.

"That's Denver Broncos offensive business," he said." ...

Peyton carries a green football - it's news. No gloves - more news.

    - OTA Buzz: Broncos QB Peyton Manning not wearing gloves at practice -

(A shocking twist in the Glove Gate saga has emerged out of Dove Valley.)

"In one of the biggest stories coming out of Denver since John Elway received a haircut during his rookie season, new information has been revealed in the Glove Gate saga.

During OTA practice on Wednesday morning, Denver Broncos veteran quarterback Peyton Manning was seen tossing footballs around without a glove on his passing hand—or on his non-passing hand—according to a tweet from the Denver Post's Mike Klis." ...

I hope Manning gets rid of the glove. Never did him any good.

The green football is a result of more emphasis being placed on ball security this year. Both PFM and DT were carrying one.

Broncos Aim to Reduce Fumbles this Season

They set records in points, touchdowns and passing yards.

And the Broncos also led the NFL last season with 16 fumbles.

And so, during their first offseason practice of 2014 on Wednesday, the Broncos didn't revel in their accomplishments but addressed their primary flaw.

Throughout the Broncos' organized team activities (OTA) practice Wednesday, quarterback Peyton Manning and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas carried around a football wrapped in green, scout-team helmet beanies.

"We're making an emphasis from Day One on ball security," Broncos coach John Fox said. "We started with two of our better players in Demaryius and Peyton. What better guys to start with?"

I wonder why Fox singled out Manning and DT? I know Manning lost a few fumbles last season, I'd hardly say it was an epidemic for him though. A lot of lost fumbles were due to poor blocking. I wonder what kind of football Hillman has to carry? Probably one covered in butter or hair gel. That guy terrifies me carrying the ball.

Because this: ""We started with two of our better players in Demaryius and Peyton. What better guys to start with?"

If you start something and you go from top (DT and PM) to bottom, you know that everybody else knows that they had better tow the line - if Peyton and DT are doing it, there's no way you're going to get out of doing it. Those two are leaders, so they're just setting a good example.
