Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Wow...this is very interesting! I wonder if they're trying McManus at punter this week?
On a side note: Burse was nothing special at PR. He was solid, but nothing special.

Highly unlikely. He's only here to boot balls out of the end zone on kick offs. We did the same thing in Prater's first year in Denver when we sill had Elam kicking field goals. Should McManus stick for the remainder of the season he'll be brought back in camp to compete for kicking duties again next season.
How's this smart? We now have two kickers, one that has no leg for FG's and the other that is so rattled on every kick he misses so he can only kickoff
And we waive a talented player in Burse over an absolutely worthless player in Caldwell

you are over estimating Burse..............
This is a smart move. strengthens an area of weakness for the stretch run and letting go a player at a position that they are very strong in.

Having a player who only kicks off is no different from keeping a player that only returns punts. I consider this move a wash. Burse got steadily better the last few weeks, but was hardly a game changer as a punt returner. He'll likely land on the practice squad and be re-signed when Ball and Hillman get healthy (Burse would then take Stewart's spot on the 53 man roster).
We need to maximize our STs, and this is one way of having a quality place kicker, and a guy who can limit returns with long kickoffs, by sacrificing a returner who hasn't shown much yet. It's good strategy. Sure, maybe we should be in a better situation in the first place, but for now, it's the right thing to do.

Trying to prevent place kick returns. I think the coaches and FO realized that while Barth clearly is the more accurate place kicker, KOs inside the 10 aren't ideal.
Burse has shown some talent but he's still young and doesn't have too much experience. He was the other choice after Norwood went out in preseason.
Hopefully he can clear waivers and go back to the PS .
Keeping McManus from being poached from the PS might be a great strategic move. The AFC is tight and giving a team the chance to basically guarantee good starting field position by taking McManus from us could be game changing.
Also if we want to keep just one specialist on the kick team....
Would you rather keep the player who is tied for 20th in the league in PR average, or the player who is 3rd in the league for touchbacks? In a game decided by field position I think that is a pretty easy decision to make.
I see it as a smart move too. Much prefer having McManus kicking off for touchbacks then allowing returns. Barth just can't do it.
As for Burse. Nice young player that hopefully makes it back to the PS. But I would not be surprised if he did not. Wasn't there at least one team interested in signing him. just a few weeks ago? He is not getting any RB minutes. And is below average as a punt returner. He is far below league averages in return average and a long return despite being 2nd in attempts. Was reliable on fair catches though.
Burse caught almost every punt (he dropped 1 all year) and usually had decent returns...
Caldwell does nothing.well at all besides make poor KR decision and drop passes
If Barth can't even kick it into the endzone....uhh what's his range on FG's??? We ever need a 54 yarder late to tie or late and we're likely screwed
It was smart letting Prater go, really
It's been really useful playing Caldwell over Latimer
They have their moments but imo our coaching is without a doubt a weakness on this team
I liked Burse as well but he only brought PR to the table. Caldwell has been iffy but at least he knows the offense. Also McManus could be called upon for 54yard + FG attempts if needed. I do not think Burse will be claimed by another team.
