When you miss the playoffs, that just means you have much, much more to do to get your team good enough to be a playoff team...which could take years.
How much better do you expect the Broncos to get? this year we had the best overall talent, as time goes on we are just going to lose more and more players, for the Broncos it looks like we can only go down in talent wise. It not about scraping everything it about losing at the right time. In the NFL only 1 position matters the QB, and as of now our QB is going no where.

I think there are two weaknesses on the Broncos D I would fix, if I was Elway....1. Rheem needs to go and I thought he should've been gone years ago. He's definitely the weakness in that secondary...Ward, Harris and Talib are good talents and now we need a good FS. Roby is a good up and coming CB as well. Another weakness in Denver's D is MLB. I cant remember the last time the Broncos had a leader and good LB at the MLB position. Last year, Elway tried to get D'Qwell Jackson to come to Denver, but he went to Indy...we gotta get a good MLB and leader of the D.

Offensively, if Elway and Denver want to run the ball more the Broncos need some blocking FBs and blocking TEs. Denver did a lot of re-shuffling on the O line in 2014, which needs to be more solid and maybe they need a better Center.

Something that also needs to improve with the Broncos is scheme and leadership. I think part of Elway's reason he wanted Fox out was he wasnt motivating and inspiring his team. Fox is known as a "player's coach" which is a coach who is the exact opposite of a Lombardi-type coach. Fox is not the kind of guy to kick guys in the butt, when they need it. And when you consider the Broncos' performance on Sunday and in the SB last season...they quit and they quit early on, when things werent going well. Elway just said in his press-conference he wants his team kicking and screaming to get back in the game, when things arent going well...not a team that quits in the 2nd half if things are going badly. Elway wants an HC who'll be a Lombardi-type, a strong personality who never goes down without a fight. Thats how Elway was.

Scheme-wise...maybe they need a different defensive strategy, perhaps some exotic blitz schemes to take advantage of Ware and Miller's talents. And if Elway wants the Broncs to run more, they need an OC who knows how to conduct a balanced offense. With Gase's QB background, I dont think he ever knew how to run the ball effectively or when to use or when not to use it.

Thats what I'd do if I was in Elway's shoes. If the Broncos can fix those things in the off-season and Peyton comes back...they should win a SB.
