  • Sandy cluff pushing for Rod Woodson

Sandy Cluff just interviewed rod woodson on the fan. he's in the Broncos camp, of course it's all superbowl talk but I think we may have a legitimate shot at taking Woodson on as our secondary coach.

listen to Sandy or stream him later on the subject.

What's the gist of the conversation?

"I don't know who our defensive coordinator is going to be, but we all want Rod Woodson to be our defensive backs coach," said Broncos Pro Bowl cornerback Chris Harris.
I don't see it happening because Woodson was invited by Fox last year and he does not have any connection with the current staff. I think it would be great for the DBs. Maybe we should invite Champ to give the young DBs some tips during camp.

No thanks. Champ might have been a really good CB at one point, but he was never a good mentor. CB's learned nothing from him. We need a coach.

Chris Harris and others would disagree. I can say I don't think I'd make him a DB coach just yet but an assistant maybe. Woodson has some experience in his internship and could probably come in as a DB coach or assistant as well

When Champ retired, Chris Harris spoke about how much Champ's mentorship meant to him. He spoke about how having worked under Champ has made him the CB that he is today. He said he learned all of his technique from Champ.

On the other side, this article talks about Champ mentoring Chris and how Crhis was one of those guys who was willing to learn from him, was willing to take his (Champ's) technique and use it.

I'm sorry, I don't know where you got the impression that Champ wasn't a good mentor but you are wrong.
