Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

And he played when there were basically zero rules on hitting. If u were on the field, u better be ready to get hit by somebody or something!
It's funny that's he's almost never mentioned in the "greatest QB of all-time" conversations". Neither by fans or media. But he was a bad, bad, man slinging that pigskin around
Right. He played against guys like Chuck Bednarik, Ray Nitschke, Les Richter and Joe Schmidt.

What exactly is a "finesse offensive style?" I haven't come across that in any play books or in any theory either.
I know Walsh'a 49ers were often accused of being finesse though they actually ran their version of West Coast offense and ran it very successfully with three Super Bowl wins in 81, 84, and 88.
So far with Manning we've run his spread offense which lie WCO places a greater emphasis on passing but isn't accepted. In that time we've won out division three straight years (losing only one game) and have been to the Super Bowl once.
In the Super Bowl Thomas played with an injured shoulder in a game that was essentially already lost, but he still played hard.
It would seem that the idea of finesse might be misplaced.
In regards to Thomas specifically, he seems to avoid contact more often than a 230 lb receiver should, or at least more often than he did prior to manning. The long pass against the jets is a prime example. He also isn't great against press coverage but with his size and strength he should be manhandling those corners especially Vontae Davis. He's a good cover guy don't get me wrong, but he shouldn't be able to lock Thomas up like he's been doing every time they face off.
Von gained weight and it hurt his play. Now DT is taking weight off....
I need to shed a few pounds to fit back into my DT jersey. I had kind of put it to the side in case he left, but now...... Oh yeah.

I think DT avoids contact and doesnt exactly use his body like somebody like Sanders does is because he is afraid to get hurt. He was hurt coming in from his rookie year with his achilles injury and he didnt want to get hurt again before he got his huge contract.
Now that he has his huge contract with all that gauranteed money hopefully he will play more like his size and be more physical.
From what I remember DT shed about 8 pounds last year/season as well. I believe his playing weight was 222 about the same time- would be interesting to know what it was at the end of the season for comparisons sake.

I think what is being referred to as Finesse style offense is the use of timing and well designed plays rather than the use of physical gifts of the players (Size & strength mainly). For example JT was more of a finesse style TE whereas Gronk is not. I also think that many, including myself, associate Finesse style WR's with not fighting for the ball as much in contested catches. I think in some respects DT has fallen into that trap a few times. my hope is that his weight loss will allow him to be faster but he should still use his strength, size and speed to his advantage in varying degrees when and where needed. I am not debating DT's toughness here I would just like to see a bit more aggression in situations where it calls for it.
Truth is, DT never really gets a lot of jump ball opportunities
I see him have 1v1 plenty where Manning could just throw it up but he never does...it's his style, I hate it, but it's his style...I think it's because he's never had a big WR like DT so he just never did it so he doesn't do it now
He still throws to DT like he's Marvin Harrison, he'll make DT run hard to get it in a small window before just throwing it up to him
Try to find him throwing up a true jump ball to DT...it doesn't exist lol
