  • Anunike to have knee scoped

"ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Defensive end Kenny Anunike will have his knee scoped after missing a second consecutive day of practice, Head Coach Gary Kubiak said Wednesday.

Anunike was on the sideline Tuesday because of swelling in the knee. Kubiak said that he was unsure whether it was the same knee on which Anunike had two reconstructive surgeries.

"It swelled up on him, and they made a decision to scope it tomorrow and see where they're at. That's all I can tell you," Kubiak said.

He said he expects to learn more Thursday afternoon about the cause of the swelling.

Anunike had been enjoying an outstanding training camp, capped by a terrific game in Seattle last Friday in which he notched eight tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

His entire football career has been defined by overcoming injuries, including an elbow injury that forced him to injured reserve last year. He's endured four left knee surgeries, including one to repair a torn ACL and MCL suffered in 2011, and was granted a rare sixth year of college eligibility at Duke because of the time he lost to injuries."

I just read about this elsewhere. Not the best news, especially when you consider how well he played against Seattle, combined with Wolfe's upcoming suspension. DE depth is needed.

I hope it turns out alright. He's shown some flashes and I think this staff can get a lot out of production out of him.

Wasn't he out all of last season on IR with an elbow injury?

It's always a disappointment when you have players who just can't seem to stay healthy.

2-3 weeks is good news. Hope he makes some noise against Balt!
Time to build on the win and grow the team from some solid play higher level of play

He was fighting for a roster spot though which I believe he has earned. These missed two to three weeks could take that from him.
