  • For Brandon Marshall, it's all about Pain Management

I liked Marshall before but I like him even more now. What a gritty attitude.

"I think this is something I'm going to have to battle with," he said. "I'm going to have to battle with it all season. I've got two screws in (the foot) -- one of them broke, so I'm just going to have to battle with it all season. It's going to be tough, but I think I'll be just fine."- Brandon Marshall

One of the better players on our team with a broken screw in his foot... That's mean nasty football right there! That's toughness at it's finest! Making it work without slowing down.

While I love the attitude, this is a bit worrisome, game 1 and already broken 1 out of 2 screws. Does not sound good for his season.

I predicted, several months back, that I'd be shocked if he and Trevathan last more than 6 games this season. Marshall had "Lisfranc" surgery that realigns the bones in the center of the foot. I remember hearing Chad Brown talking about how he was still recovering from the Lisfranc injury that ended his career. And that was 8 years after he retired. Additionally, I can't help but wonder how the hell you get the broken screw out of the bone. I hope this doesn't have a "Bob Swenson" ending to it.

It is concerning IMO, it also depends where the break in the screw is. If it's not supporting the bone, then just a hole in the bone has to be weaker than an intact bone.

I think if the broken screw could cause more problems the Broncos would have him have surgery to fix the problem. My only concern would be the broken part of the screw floating around in his foot causing more damage.

I understand he is pushing himself for a payday (maybe the love of the game I do not know him well enough) but I just hope they check it on a regular basis (weekly) so that nothing serious happens.

The courage and toughness is admirable.

This reminds me of Elway's final year when a muscle in his arm tore off the ligament (think it was preseason or training camp) and he played the whole year with the injury...tho I am pretty sure Marshall going through a lot more pain.
Get ourself up, learn what we can and keep moving forward.
