  • Gary Kubiak: 'We need to find the next Brock Osweiler'

FULLBACK COMEBACK -- The Broncos will eventually bring back the fullback after scrapping the position last year with the knee injury to James Casey. And special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis is out searching for a long snapper after the Broncos released Aaron Brewer for behavioral reasons.
Lots of other good tidbits on the upcoming season in that article, including the possibility of bringing in Arian Foster.

It will be interesting to see how Kubiak's offense performs when he has a full roster of the payers he needs to run it. I think Heuermann will play a pretty big part in this offense. We might finally get to see more of Juwann Thompson if Hillman stays away, and may have a fullback. Imagine CJ running behind a fullback.

Nobody else wants foster and I like the idea of him being here to spell CJ for a handful of carries a game that's if he doesn't let his pride get in the way and he comes to terms with the fact that he can't handle the grind of being a full time back.

Virgil green wouldn't be bad back there if he put his heart into the position, I know he doesn't like playing full back. Who else is available?

I figured we would add a fb, we are going with kubes offense fully this year. I love it .

Sucks about Brewer, wonder what the issues were. I don't ever remember him botching a snap and thought he was good in coverage too. Must have been some real issues.

I can't find anything on brewer and he just signed up with John fox in Chicago so I don't think it was anything off the field. Maybe he butt heads with the current staff?

Dan Vitale needs to be a Bronco.

If the Broncos draft a FB, I'd like to see them get Dan Vitale at #219 and/or Soma Vainuku as an UDFA.

If Arian Foster is healthy, I think it would be good to get him. Being a part of a RB committee behind C.J. would be no problem for him. He isn't that kind of guy.

It will be interesting to see how Green and Heuerman are used this year.

If the Broncos do, in fact get a FB, Juwan Thompson will probably end up as part of the RB committee.

Denver may pick up a LS as an UDFA like they did with Aaron Brewer.

Arian is trying to come back after rehabbing a ruptured Achilles tendon. His brother Abdul, who runs a training center for athletes, is working with him. Gary Kubiak recently mentioned that the status of Arian's health would not be known until June. That probably means he is still rehabbing. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

The only problem is today you don't find a college player that can do this:

I like Vainuku a little more, he's got good speed and size. I think he's a better run blocker and a really good special teamer, you can't have too many of those guys.

Virgil Green seems too tall to play a traditional fullback position. He had been used in numerous positions and is a good blocking TE but if (and I agree we should) need a real FB then we should look for one that fits the bill instead of going the hybrid route.

Vitale highlights, good to watch because they also show a lot of Siemian:

This guy reminds me of a faster Peyton Hillis with better hands...

Awesome receiver... where is the FB?

In all those clips and only one run? Does he lead block? Does he pass protect? Or is the best thing he does is catch the ball 15 yards downfield?

I love how multi talented this "superback" is. No issue at all with adding him to the team. I just want to make sure that the FB actually plays like a FB and is happy with his role. Part of the reason Green and other hybrid type FBs have limited success.

Makes me wonder if a rookie is the right answer. Even a "superback" like Vitale. In many ways I would prefer the Broncos sign a vet FB. I believe Young from the Redskins is still available. My reasoning is experience. A FB that has seen the defenses in the League. One that can help the o-line and QB identify pass rushes or run gaps. One that has laid the wood to a pass rusher or potential tackler before. A FB that does not need the ball in his hands to be happy.

                              Thoughts?
