The Denver Broncos announced that they would hold a quarterback competition that consisted of Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian and rookie Paxton Lynch receiving equal reps during training camp.
Well, it did not take long for Sanchez to slip into his old ways, and for that, he got benched.
Yes. An interception sent Sanchez to the bench while Siemian got called in to practice with the first team.
Sanchez has been looking for a team to call home since his release by the New York Jets in 2012. The Philadelphia Eagles opted not to re-sign the embattled quarterback earlier during free agency and the Broncos took a flyer on him.
Now it would appear he is already in the doghouse.
The benching comes on the heels of Sanchez making it clear he feels his newest opportunity is a “gift-wrapped opportunity from heaven.”

“This is like a gift-wrapped opportunity from heaven,” Sanchez said, per Michael Silver of NFL.com. “As soon as it arrived, I told myself, ‘Take advantage of things. Assert yourself. Be the guy you know you can be. Win the job. And then go win some games, which is the most important thing of all.’ “

It looks to be a long season for Sanchez and the Broncos.
