  • Klis: Osweiler playing for job; could see Siemian against Bengals

This morning on Orange & Blue 760 with Tyler Polumbus and Andy Lindahl, Mike Klis of 9News said that Brock Osweiler is playing for his job against the New England Patriots this week.

If things don’t go well for Osweiler and the Denver Broncos in this game, head coach Vance Joseph and the coaching staff will make the move back to Trevor Siemian for their home game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Siemian started off the season well, but put together a string of five terrible games where he wasn’t seeing much actual pressure and forcing the ball into bad places. Osweiler, in his only start, was pressured an astounding 22 times by the Philadelphia Eagles front seven. He needs to get a little breathing room against the Patriots if he has any hope of continuing under center.

Where does Paxton Lynch fit into all of this? He doesn’t.

The plan with Lynch is to play him only when the Broncos hit their seventh loss. Klis was quick to answer that question when posed. He elaborated further by noting that if that seventh loss comes near the end of the season with the playoffs in the balance then Lynch won’t see the field at all.

It seems that no one on the Broncos believes Lynch gives them the best chance to win, so starting him is a signal to the entire world that the front office believes the season is lost. No one wants to admit that until the math says so.

Just start Siemian againstNew England then cmon

    This is all stupid

What a huge ridiculous distraction on the team

Brock never should've been part of the equation. He's just a huge distraction from our real problems.

At least we apparently have an answer when Lynch will start. Not until at least Week 12

I never did find out what happened to lynch that prevented him from playing most of the season.

This summarizes either the inexperience or ineptitude of the coaching staff.... Maybe both

Would love to know what they consider 'playing poorly'. They appear to set an extremely low bar for QB performance.

What's the dang point? This is stupid. If you're going to move off of Oz, you might as well go with Lynch. It isn't about trying to save the season, it's about figuring out next year. I also think he should be shuffling the o-line. We need to start seeing what our younger guys can do rather than trotting out the same dang thing every week.

If there gonna seesaw back and forth, put in Lynch after the Patriots. Things get a little easier and said see what we've got for next year.
                Adopted Bronco: DeMarcus Ware

                  By 65-17? 6 TO,s, 2 muffed punts, 25 penalties. Something in there?

Well 2018 should be fun, maybe we get back to the playoffs after a 2 year absence....

A new QB, a new coach, a new o-line, should be a lot to look forward too

They are not seesawing back and forth. They are just trying to figure out which QB gives them the best shot at the postseason until they are eliminated. The job is Brocks if he can win games. Honestly, he should have never seen the field. Trevor should have stayed in until we were realistically eliminated, then throw Lynch in the fire and get him some game reps.

He'll start the second after we get eliminated from playoff contention

Which doesn't make sense why we're wasting our time with Osweiler

I guess starting Osweiler was a prayer to turn the season around

Sucks for Trevor though. Hopefully we let him go somewhere else

Honestly, the o-line only needs 2 players - one T and one G. I think Bolles, Paradis and Leary are just fine. RT is a hot mess and LG is below average with Garcia and Barbre rotating. IMO, Barbre has been better than garcia. So really, one starting caliber RT and this line is just fine.

Coaching and QB, however, is a different story.

Or toss Lynch into the fire against the Pats and get him big time experience and try to surprise the Pats with a QB they have no film of in McCoy's system

Any young new QB will fail under this coaching staff
