I would assume that Mr. Bowlen will not be with us much longer. It would have been nice if he had been inducted into the Hall of Fame long before reaching this point.sigpic

UPDATE 3:59 p.m. ET: Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth disputes the perception that Mr. Bowlen is in dramatically failing health. “Mr. Bowlen is resting very comfortably at home as he receives care for Alzheimer’s disease,” Smyth said in a statement to PFT. “Joe Ellis visited with him just this past week. He’s doing fine.”
I thought he was going to be inducted last year. It would be nice if it came soon.Administrator

Respectfully to Mr. Bowlen, let's not turn this thread in to a HOF discussion and / or complaint, especially since the HOF will never be the standard by which he is measured to his family, team, and fans.
What are your favorite stories about him?

Mike Shanahan
Broncos offensive coordinator, 1984-87; offensive assistant, 1990-91; head coach, 1995-2008
“After we had our parade downtown (following Super Bowl XXXII), we had dinner over at the Denver Chophouse. All the players went over there and the coaches, and we just had a fantastic evening.
“But Pat told me after we got there, he says, ‘Hey, Mike, the president is going to call me.’ At the time, it was Bill Clinton. He said, ‘He’s going to call at about 5 p.m.’ And I told him, ‘Great, that’s fantastic.’ He said: ‘But I’m not going to be there. I want you to talk to him.’ I said: ‘What do you mean? Why do you want me to talk to him?’ He said, ‘Well, I’m going to go get my workout in.’ It just shows you the type of guy that he was. He was very disciplined. Just an unbelievable owner that you would love to work for, and he did all the little things that gave you a chance to win that people don’t realize.”sigpic

I don't want to bury Pat Bowlen before his time, but I have had family members who have sufffered from Alzhiemers and Dementia, and it's a complete nightmare for the patient AND the family. I really feel for his poor family having to see this.
I think some topics of discussion that you don't see a lot on this Board up to now would include a little more information about the Trust he set up to run the Broncos, and whether or not the Broncos will be put up for Sale. And if they are For Sale, is it possible that multiple Investors, like Elway, could take the Franchise Public, similar to Green Bay, where the Fans could participate in the Ownership? And if that happens, what will Elway's future be with the Franchise?
