  • Heuerman Out for Season

Heuerman is expected to miss the rest of the season while recovering from broken ribs and a bruised lung, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

Initially reported as a back injury, Heuerman's issue turned out to be far more serious, likely ruling him out for the rest of the season. If so, he'll finish the year with 31 catches for 281 yards and two touchdowns on 48 targets, highlighted by a 10-reception outing in a Week 9 loss to the Texans. The Broncos are left with Matt LaCosse as their top pass-catching tight end, while Brian Parker will ascend to the No. 2 role and likely handle some of the blocking. The Denver offense may become even more reliant on Phillip Lindsay and Emmanuel Sanders.

Tough break, he's played pretty well in recent weeks.

Just can't catch a break on the TE position. Matt La Cosse just went from 3rd string to starter. We really needed Heuerman too, as he's a good pass protector

Wonder if this means we start to use Janovich like a tight end?

Maybe La Cosse is a diamond in the rough. I never even heard of him until he started getting playing time this season.

That's unfortunate. The Broncos have not been good at finding TEs of late, and this guy was starting to show some good receiving skills. I would love to see him or a future pick step up that part of our game.

Wasn't it Heuerman who tore his anterior cruciate on the first day of rookie camp right after he was Drafted? And then he had some hamstring problems. Missed the Super Bowl because of injury. And isn't he a Free Agent at the end of the season? Sorry to see it. And although Heuerrman was having his best season, LaCosse appears to be the more "natural" receiver.

It’ll be interesting to see if we stay put or activate Fumagalli off IR or resign Austin Traylor

They signed Temarrick Hemingway from the PS.
