  • Here are the defensive linemen we've been looking at...

According to the Denver Post, we've had a number of defensive linemen coming in for interviews recently. These guys are most likely cheap options to fortify the line. I know you can't tell everything from stat but I'll list them anyway. What to do you think about any of these guys?

We also had Courtney Brown in but I didn't list him because the Redskins suddenly seem to be in love with him. So, any of these guys worthwhile?

Johnson didn't exactly dominate for us. It could have been that he was just out of shape from missing too much of the year, but maybe not. Either way, I'm afraid the Broncos will spend too much money on him.

Someone should let the Bronco brass know that they have 2 DEs on the roster and should look into more.

Well, can't say I've seen any of them play, they all seem a little undersized (not even 300 lbs.) but darby might be alright, as a nose tackle or something. All in all not a very glamorous bunch though eh? You remember after getting his ankle busted when tony williams flexed for the crowd in cinci? Jesus those were big arms, he gets points for that at least.

I like my defensive tackles like I like my women: well over 300 lbs.

with Plummer restructuring his contract for a second time i think we will be able to make a pretty strong push for courtney brown with the cap we have now! he would get to move to a winning team and still be on the d-line with a former team mate and coach! plus the extra money i dont see it as such a long shot anymore! i want him to be a bronco!!!

I wouldn't mind giving Brown a shot...IF he came cheap. But he is too risky to put a lot of money into him, in my opinion. If the salary cap happy (insane) Redskins are our competition for signing him, we're better off letting him go.

The only Free Agent D-Linemen the Broncos need to be concerned about are Ellis Johnson, Tony Williams(if we can't sign E. Johnson), Marques Douglas, and Courtney Brown. After that it's best to find players in the Draft.

No other DEs were mentioned in this thread outside of Brown, and Wiley certainly is not as good as Brown if both stay healthy.

I agree with you about ~75% of the time, but you have GOT to explain this infatuation with Wiley. He has been bad the last two seasons even though he's been healthy.

He had one good season in 2000. Good DEs should make around 75 tackles per season and record 8+ sacks. Wiley could rush the passer in this younger days, but now he looks completely used up and can't even do that anymore. Signing him would be like throwing money in a barrel and lighting it on fire.

For some reason, even while being a 'raven fan'....razor thought denver should pick him up.
Funny he's still sold on him while being a 'bronco fan'.....
