  • If you could take a Gm Job

Realistically, three or four openings in that department should probably occur this season.

    Most likley

    Lions
    Bills (hearing more an more)
    Texans.
    Possibly the Saints

IF you could take one, where would it be, and what would you do in your first season to help your team get back on track? (hoping some of you Draftnicks around today)

I would take the Bills job. I believe that is a more manageable situation up there.

        you could state why....

And maybe what you would do, what would you do to help the team back into contention?

I'd probably take the Texans job. They have a lot of talent in place, and only have a few gaping holes that need to be filled. They also have lots of draft picks to play with. So first, I'd fire Dom Capers and try to target Gregg Williams or Gary Kubiak as my next coach. I leave Vic Fangio as the defensive coordinator to maintain continuity for the 3-4 defense.

Now I check my roster needs. They are: OL, CB, S, LB

In the draft, the two players I must have are D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Greg Eslinger for our zone blocking scheme, which is currently failing due to the piss poor talent on the o-line. The Texans draft should go something like this:

          1. T D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Virginia
          2. S Greg Blue, Georgia
          3a. C Greg Eslinger, Minnesota
3b. DE Parys Haralson, Tennessee (to play OLB)
          4. OL
          5. RB
          6. MLB
          7. TE

          Free agency:
QB: Re-sign David Carr long term. Release Dave Ragone. Targets: Jon Kitna, Charlie Batch, Anthony Wright
RB: Re-sign Wells for 3-4 years.
WR: Re-sign Jabar Gaffney 3-4 years. Let Corey Bradford leave. Targets: Eric Moulds, Joe Jurevicius, Antwaan Randle El
TE: Re-sign Marcellus Rivers short term.
T: Make sure Ferguson does not hold out by all means possible. Targets: Jeff Backus, Jon Runyan
G: Targets: Stephen Neal, Steve Hutchinson
          C: Let Steve McKinney leave.

          DE: No actions.
          NT: No actions.
LB: Let DeShon Polk leave. Targets: Andra Davis, Gary Brackett, Earl Holmes at MLB. Julian Peterson, David Thornton, Akin Ayodele at OLB.
CB: Re-sign Jason Bell short term. Targets: DeShea Townshend, Jerry Azumah, R.W. McQuarters
S: Let Ramon Walker leave. Targets: Chris Hope, Will Demps, Corey Chavous, Dexter Jackson.

          Possible depth chart:
          QB: David Carr, Jon Kitna
RB: Domanick Davis, Tony Hollings, Vernand Morency, Jonathan Wells
          FB: Moran Norris, Jonathan Wells
WR: Andre Johnson, Joe Jurevicius, Jabar Gaffney, Jerome Mathis, Derrick Armstrong
          TE: Mark Bruener, Marcellus Rivers
          LT: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Seth Wand
          LG: Steve Hutchinson, Milford Brown
          C: Greg Eslinger, Drew Hodgdon
          RG: Fred Weary, Milford Brown
          RT: Jon Runyan, Chester Pitts
          RDE: Gary Walker, Travis Johnson
          NT: Seth Payne, Jerry Deloach
          LDE: Robaire Smith, Alfred Malone
ROV: Antwan Peek, Parys Haralson, Kenneth Pettway
          MLB: Morlon Greenwood, Troy Evans
          BLB: Gary Brackett, Frank Chamberlin
          OLB: Akin Ayodele, Shantee Orr
          RCB: Dunta Robinson, Jason Bell
LCB: Jerry Azumah, DeMarcus Faggins, Lewis Sanders
          FS: Dexter Jackson, C.C. Brown
          SS: Bernard Pollard, Glenn Earl

After all this, depending on Ferguson's contract, the Texans should be right at the salary cap. This roster is capable of a 9-7 or 10-6 season, but because of all the first year players and a new offensive scheme, 8-8 is probably in store.

So naturally, my Adopt-A-Bronco is Jay Cutler!
