He won the hands competition, ran the fastest time in the 40, and runs great routes with quick and precise cuts........

What do you call that, if it's not "the next BIG THING"??

When have you ever heard of a successful wide-out from the Gators. I love Jackson's speed but i'm not sold on his consistency. Chris Leak tossed this kid bombs and he didn't put up startling numbers. I'm afraid we'll have two Ashley Lelie's...Huge Plays, but no 3rd and 8 conversions.

I love the high second round pick. Saves us cash and we still pick up a player of 1st round talent.

Fact is, John Abraham is an animal. He will have an instant impact on our team and do what Trevor Pryce could not. I love this scenario!

O buddy, Jackson can run routes and can catch the Ball, two things Lelie cant even dream of yet......

Jackson can be a possesion WR and a Deep threat at the same time, just how will he develope is the only question.......

Jackson caught 88 passes this year in Florida, and we are going to NEED that kind of production from him.

I love his upside and I hope you're right. He looked amazing at the combine and I'd love to see him do that for us.

Your saying that you prefer to draft an unproven, untested (at least at the professional level) rookiee who is actually a huge question mark rather then go after a vet who has proven his worth time and time again?

I would much rather send one of our picks out for someone who can come in and upgrade our front-4 pass rush next season rather then draft a rookiee who will most likely take at least a season or two (if at all, even) to get to the point we need.
This is exactly right! The draft IS the answer for the future and it IS important for Shanahan to draft a DE who will be around for more than 1 season and who doesn't come with a bunch of baggage, like C. Brown's injury history (and lack of production this year). But, that won't be enough for 2006! They need help NOW, not two or three seasons from now!

IF the Jets can't get anything more for Abraham than a #22 draft pick, they might consider it, but they probably will want more than just a #1. They might want additional picks, for instance. So, the Broncos might find themselves outbid even if they were ready to make the trade.

John Abraham is the best DL available this off-season. He averages 10.5 sacks a year (compare that to Trevor Pryce's 4 sacks and Courtney Brown's 2 -- the current Broncos DEs).

The irony is that the Broncos would have been better off paying Reggie Hayward last season and keeping him, rather than having to give up a draft pick for Abraham, PLUS paying him Hayward type money. Perhaps Abraham is a better DE than Hayward, but keeping him wouldn't have cost a draft pick.

And Bert Berry whom Shanahan let go in 2004 was positively CHEAP compared to what Abraham will cost.

That's the problem with Shanahan. He learns about 2 seasons later what others were saying all along: the Broncos need a speed rusher at DE.

Why they couldn't have kept the good young ones they had, rather than let them go -- only to be forced into giving up a high draft choice later in addition to using a #1 draft pick on another -- is beyond me!

And NO! Courtney Brown and John Engleberger don't count!
