  • If One Falls?

After looking at a number of mock drafts and seeing the different players various "experts" have falling to us, I thought I would pose this question to you.

Who would you want to fall to Denver at pick 22 if you only had one of these guys to choose? (I have seen each of these guys slotted to go to Denver in different mocks)

    1. LenDale White RB USC
    2. Vernon Davis TE Maryland
    3. Tamba Hali DE Penn St.
    4. Mathias Kiwanuka DE BC
    5. Santonio Holmes WR Ohio St.
    6. Chad Jackson WR Florida

Kiwi has been the one most projected to go to Denver, but what do you think?

When you have a TE running a 4.38 and weighing over 250, it's criminal to pass up on that.

I like Chad Jackson, but Vernon is a physical specimen to behold.

Vernon Davis. However, there's no way in hell that happens.

Second is Lendale White. I'd say there's a remote chance of that happening.

The other guys I don't think would be considered "falling" if they reached 22.

          Agree

That was too easy. With Putz gone, Vernon Davis would be perfect. Too bad he won't last past the top ten.

If we dont manage to snag JA then I would grab Kiwanuka at 22...if we do then either Chad Jackson or Vernon Davis.

              2/27/06
              PickAnalysis

              1. Texans

              Reggie Bush (USC)
              RB
Trade talk might be posturing for a monster package. If not, he helps the team in many phases of the game. Line help comes later.

              2. Saints

              Matt Leinart (USC)
              QB
The word “distributor” keeps popping up with him as a reason he fits here. He can accurately put the ball in the hands of those who know what to do with it.

              3. Titans

              Vince Young (Texas)
              QB
It is obvious the Titans need a rebuilding plan. They can achieve a lot by retaining McNair to teach and trading Volek somewhere he is wanted. In 2007 Young will start.

              4. NY Jets

              D’Brickashaw Ferguson (Virginia)
              OT
Before anything else happens, the offensive line must get help. Unless a trade is swung for Leinart this is the best move they can make.

              5. Packers

              Mario Williams (N.C. State)
              DE
Having two good pass rushing ends did wonders for the Giants and the Packers will be hoping this versatile addition helps to lessen their defensive shortcomings.

              6. 49ers

              Michael Huff (Texas)
              S
If he grades out as the best safety, he very well could be the pick. Their defense needs an enforcer to build around. I feel he fits the bill for a secondary and defense in disarray.

              7. Raiders

              A.J. Hawk
              (Ohio State)
              LB
Coupled with veteran Danny Clark and young stud Kirk Morrison suddenly this defense has a solid set of linebackers for the first time in a long time.

              8. Bills

              Haloti Ngata (Oregon)
              DT
The loss of Williams prior to last year and age of Adams make this a logical choice.

              9. Lions

              Chad Greenway (Iowa)
              LB
It might be seen as too soon for him, but their defense could use a quick tackler. Given their history, anything is possible though.

              10. Cardinals

              Lendale White (USC)
              RB
This is going to surprise some people. Green has his poor man’s Reggie Bush in J.J. Arrington and will get a punishing rusher that he covets.

              11. Rams

              Jimmy Williams (Virginia Tech)
              CB
Dropping to this spot remains a question mark, but the Rams would love to have the top corner on the board. It is a sore spot on their defense.

              12. Browns

              Mathias Kiwanuka
              (Boston College)
              DE
His stock has slipped and he might not be the second end off the board. Whoever that player is will be taken by the Browns who need to start over on the defensive line.

              13. Ravens

              Winston Justice (USC)
              OT
With Ogden no longer the force he once was, they look to the other LA college for line help. Their running back situation also needs clarity and DeAngelo Williams will be tempting.

              14. Eagles

              Tamba Hali
              (Penn State)
              DE
It is not their biggest need, but it is an excellent value and a chance to keep him close to home. By the end of the combine he might be the #2 end though.

              15. Falcons

              DeAngelo Williams (Memphis)
              RB
This is a dream scenario for the Falcons that might not come true. One way or another they are going to get a running back who will by the end of the 2006 season take over full time.

              16. Dolphins

              Jay Cutler (Vanderbilt)
              QB
Opinions on him vary from possible top 5 to slipping. The Dolphins need a starting quarterback and Saban is familiar with his work in the SEC.

              17. Vikes

              Ko Simpson (South Carolina)
              S
It is time for this team to think ahead and outside of the box. They can get creative with him initially and eventually he could be a fixture in their defense.

              18. Cowboys

              Santonio Holmes (Ohio State)
              WR
Their receivers are from a different era. His play making ability will be a welcome addition. It might not be their biggest need, but he brings excitement with him.

              19. Chargers

              Demeco Ryans (Alabama)
              LB
This would have the Chargers War Room dancing a jig. There are age issues at linebacker and coupled with Merriman this unit would be dangerous for years to come.

              20. Chiefs

              Orien Harris (Miami, FL)
              DT
How the player rankings shape up is yet to be really decided, but the Chiefs need a nasty player who can occupy the middle of their defensive line.

              21. Patriots

              Darnell Bing (USC)
              S
Rodney Harrison needs a replacement. There are other places they can go, but I can make an argument that they would have at least beat Denver if he was on the field.

              22. Broncos

              Vernon Davis (Maryland)
              TE
They wanted a tight end last year, but passed on Heath Miller to focus on the secondary. Now thanks to a shrewd trade with the Redskins during last year’s draft they have one.

              23. Bucs

              Marcus McNeil (Auburn)
              OT
Their offensive line is ancient. With another blocker or two suddenly the scoreboard will start lighting up given the surrounding players.

              24. Bengals

              Marcedes Lewis (UCLA)
              TE
I have said for a while that this offense just needs a solid tight end to complete the puzzle. Now it is that and the health of Palmer. He will blend in well with the rest of the Pac-10 alums.

              25. NY Giants

              Broderick Bunkley (Miami, FL)
              DT
If Strahan can hold it together another season the defensive line would be in great shape this year with another solid piece.

              26. Bears

              Sinorice Moss (Miami, FL)
              WR
They could take a tight end, but this is too much talent to pass up at receiver on an offense that needs one. Acclimating from the heat to the cold is the only issue.

              27. Panthers

              Eric Winston (Miami, FL)
              OT
I know. It is a Hurricane run. Their offensive line is a bit of a mess. They will hope to find a #2 receiver later.

              28. Jaguars

              Leonard Pope (Georgia)
              TE
This offense needs another threat. With the receiving corps up in the air he could be a guy Leftwich can lean on in the middle of the field regardless of what goes on wide.

              29. Broncos

              Chad Jackson (Florida)
              WR
The flirtation with Owens is all you need to know about how much they need another receiver. There are far fewer success stories (Darrell Jackson) than failures from Gators, but I think they will take him.

              30. Colts

              Tye Hill (Clemson)
              CB
A shrink for Peyton Manning might be a better choice. Since there isn’t one on the board, the best corner will suffice for now.

              31. Seahawks

              Rod Wright (Texas)
              DT
With the linebackers getting attention last year, it would seem logical to bolster the run stuffing ability in front of them. It is hard to say if he is being overlooked or is overrated at this point.

              32. Steelers

              Laurence Maroney (Minnesota)
              RB
There is debate as to how badly the Steelers need a running back, but Bettis is retiring, Staley is a health hazard, and standing alone Parker is unable to handle the load. This would be a great move.

              ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is an "expert" who can see how it could unfold on draft day that the Broncos take V. Davis.

Now, he also has Cutler going 16, so you can be the judge!

This is just for fun until it gets closer to draft day so for all the uptight ppl just enjoy and dream a little.

                Definetly take Vernon Davis!

He's a beast with speed and all. Also I'd take Davis if he drops that far because we've released Jeb Putzier and Wesley Duke has gone to the NFLE temporarily.

That only leaves us with Leach ( special teams guy) Jackson (Never played) and Alexander (aka: linemen since he's just a blocker) So Davis would be a good pickup.

That draft is rediculous!! There is no way that Cutler goes that low in the draft. After he performance at the combine along with the way he performed at the senior bowl cutler is easy top 10. As for us, i would like to see someone like holmes from Ohio state or that DE from BC need someone to take over for rod here in a couple years. Also, if san fran is thinking of taking davis with their pick i don't see it as reasonable to think he will fall all the way to 22.

I'd take Vernon Davis in a heartbeat, but I don't think he'll fall to us. After that, it'd be Hali and Kiwanuka.

I don't really want us to take White with our first round pick, I think we could use it for a much greater need. Chad Jackson hasn't really sold me either. I wouldn't mind taking him, but he wouldn't be my first priority.
I'm officially eating crow. I support McDaniels.

Wishing for Jared Odrick in 2009.

That mock draft was obviously done way before the combine because there is no way cutler lasts till 16 or chad jackson lasts till 29. Maybe if you want a better idea of whom may be around when we pick get a mock draft that was done some time in 2006.

I think you missed the part of that mock that shows the date 2/27/06.

I don't see the draft playing out that way but it's fun to think about what the broncos offense would look like with Davis as TE.

It's also fun to see who people are wanting to drop on draft day.

Yeah I missed that part so all that tells me is that "Greg the football expert" does'nt know very much about football. Maybe he should do a little research before making his mock draft. Also maybe I should go get my eyes checked so that i can see that there was a date posted with the mock draft.

But, it's possible VD falls to 22. All we have to do is hire hitmen to take out all the team rep's. They can't turn in their picks on time (ala Mike Tice), meaning we take our pick...
