  • Daryn Colledge wants to be in Denver

This is an interesting story about Daryn Colledge. It mentions that Denver is one of the teams talking to him at the combine and also mentions it is Colledge's prefered place to go.

(this is an Alaska newspaper, where Colledge played in HS)

Sweet, awesome find man. He's a snowboarder and such as well, so you can see why he would want to come here. It's a perfect fit! I am just having trouble deciding if he's a first, second, or third rounder at this point. I heard he didn't do well on the bench press and the senior bowl dropped his stock a bit.

I still think that we will probably have to take him with our 2nd rounder to get him....and it's sketchy if he will be there then. I think he'd be perfect here to take over for Lepsis, but with his new 4 year deal, it's hard to say how long he will play now. He could play for 4 more years for all I know!

Anyways, good stuff. Colledge is the #1 guy I want Denver to land in this draft.

Is he the one that all the scouts are saying is a denver type lineman and a pure fit for our system?
      So far:
      FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
      1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

Colledge is a stud. He dominated Kiwi in his Bowl game, and was impressive at the Senior Bowl.

He is the type of lineman we usually draft. Undersized, quick, with good foot work. I think he will fall to the 3rd because of his size and his weak bench at the combine. If we have comp picks early 3rd he would be a steal. If we don't get comp picks we should grab him with our 2nd pick. Other teams that might be interested would be Atlanta, and Houston assuming Kubiak goew with zone blocking schemes.

I really like Colledge, but after resigning Matt Lepsis, the earliest I see us taking him is the third round. I seem to remember reading somewhere that he has played inside as well, so he might be a good replacement at RG in a year.

There is just too much talent in the 2nd round for us to use our pick on any OT. I'm anticipating Joseph Addai, Jason Allen, Dominique Byrd, Victor Adeyanju, or Darryl Tapp to be there with that pick. I would rate all of those players as a better fit for our current personell and needs.

That said, I think Colledge could still be there in the 3rd. I think a bunch of offensive lineman are moving up and may have passed Colledge for teams using larger linemen (Andrew Whitoworth, Rashad Butler, Ryan O'Callaghan). Colledge had an okay combine, but his dimminutive size will be a concern for a lot of teams. Earlier, some draft experts had Colledge vying for position with the second tier tackles - Eric Winston, Jon Scott, and Marcus McNeil. I think all of these players are ahead of Colledge for most teams.

Anyway, I don't think we should use a second on him, but if he falls to the third round than we snatch him up (this is still relatively high for a typical Bronco lineman).

As far as I know, comp picks are always at the end of the round.

Id rather get Eric Winston if he falls to 29.

He's definately over that injury and is just a bigger version of Colledge with the same atheletism.

Kellen Winslow Jr comes to mind... I seriously doubt he would come to Denver, (and them knowing he likes to play in the snow), without having a no skiing/boarding clause in his contract.

Just what you need is some guy flopping around in the snow after blowing up a knee on a mogul or something.
