Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

can't expect bronco fans to be scared of the brownies-- there's some history there. . .
We gotta play em next year too, but don't be scared just yet. They need some front seven help.
I'm lookin at them Rams right now. These guys want to win. They're flying under the radar, and building themselves a defense. The Seahawks have already taken a couple of hits, and if they lose Jurevicioous, the Rams could be tough in that division (too bad they're going to lose Archuleta though).
Hey Whodey: You guys ought to go after Hope, and completely descimate whats left of Pitts secondary. Troy Polamalu is only one guy.

don't worry, i'm not. . .
probably won't happen, but i'd like to see the hawks lose jurevicius to us. . .
unless they get another QB, the rams are only a threat if bulger can stay healthy. . .
as for pitt-- i believe ike taylor is a RFA, but i'm not sure-- if that's true, i would expect them to give him the high tender. . . and mcfadden and colclaugh are talented young corners who should play a bigger role next year, so i'm afraid reports of their secondary being decimated if they lose hope (that's punny) are premature. . .

rest in peace, darrent williams and damien nash-- you will be missed!!

Colclaugh and Mcfadden? C'mon. They are only solid as long as Palamalu, Porter and Farrior are making plays. Matter of fact. The whole defense is. Oelhoffen is all but done. Smith is overrated, and they're prolly going to lose Townsend. I never thought very highly of these corners in the first place. Product of preassure.

no doubt at all that their front seven is the strength of their D. . . but you don't think that first and second year corners who were both 1st day picks can't get better?

Right now I don't think they are very good. I think Colclaugh has the potential to be a pretty good db in a couple of years. Not so sure about Mcfadden though.
Jags nab cornerback Williams with 6-year, $32M deal
One day after gaining his surprise freedom from the Minnesota Vikings, cornerback Brian Williams struck gold and agreed to a six-year, $32 million deal with the Jaguars that included a $10 million signing bonus.
Williams was designated a transition player last month by the Vikings even though he was the third cornerback behind Fred Smoot and Antoine Winfield. The transition tag at the time was relatively cheap for a cornerback at $4.774 million.
Those numbers changed when the collective bargaining agreement was extended Wednesday. A calculation change in the transition number happened when the league was mandated to included past franchise and transition numbers in the 2006 numbers.
Williams is considered a physical cornerback with good man-to-man skills and comes to an already talented defense.

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - Scott Linehan put in a good word for safety Corey Chavous.
The St. Louis Rams signed Chavous to a five-year contract on Saturday - the first day of the free agent signing period.
Chavous, 30, spent the last four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings. Linehan, the new coach of the Rams, was the Vikings' offensive coordinator from 2002-04.
Chavous made the Pro Bowl in 2003, when he recorded a career-high eight interceptions along with 15 passes defensed and 108 tackles.
Last season, Chavous started all 16 games and finished fourth on the team with 90 tackles and added two interceptions and seven passes defensed.
A second-round pick in 1998, Chavous spent his first four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before joining the Vikings in 2002.

Niners trade disgruntled WR Brandon Lloyd to Redskins for draft picks
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - The San Francisco 49ers traded leading receiver Brandon Lloyd to Washington on Saturday for the Redskins' third-round pick this year and their fourth-round selection in 2007.
Lloyd was a restricted free agent for the 49ers, who drafted him in the third round three years ago. He was San Francisco's top receiver last season, catching 48 passes for 733 yards and five touchdowns, but alienated teammates and clashed with the coaching staff.
San Francisco signed Lloyd to an offer sheet earlier in the month, but Lloyd seemed eager to leave town - and Washington seems enamoured with his highlight-reel skills. He was scheduled to visit the Redskins' training complex Sunday.
Though Lloyd made countless eye-popping catches during his three years with San Francisco, he also made a series of memorable drops and mistakes. Lloyd drew criticism from hard-nosed teammates such as Fred Beasley and Kevan Barlow for his flashy jewellery - and his aspirations to become a rapper in his spare time.
Lloyd caught 105 passes for 1,510 yards and 13 touchdowns in his three seasons with San Francisco. He also caught rookie quarterback Alex Smith's only touchdown pass of the season in the 49ers' season-ending win over Houston.
The 49ers already released receiver Johnnie Morton earlier in the off-season, leaving oft-injured Arnaz Battle as their most experienced receiver. They're expected to go after free agents, including Pittsburgh's Antwaan Randle-El, and seek more receiving help in next month's draft.

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans have agreed to a contract with unrestricted free agent FB Jameel Cook it was announced today.
Cook (5-10, 237) played in all 16 games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past season catching seven passes for 43 yards. His lone touchdown in 2005 was a historical feat. In Week 16, Cook caught a nine-yard score, the 900th touchdown in the Buccaneers’ 30 years of existence. Throughout his career Cook has utilized his hands as he had a career-high 20 catches for 120 yards in 2003.
Cook, a sixth round pick in the 2001 draft from Illinois, was a major contributor on the Bucs special teams, finishing second on the team with 23 tackles. He had a season-high five special teams stops against Detroit.
