Cowboys sign OL Kosier; re-sign OL Gurode
March 11, 2006
IRVING, Texas (Ticker) - The Dallas Cowboys shored up their suspect offensive line Saturday by signing free agent tackle-guard Kyle Kosier and re-signing guard-center Andre Gurode.
Kosier received a five-year deal while Gurode inked a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The 27-year-old Kosier is a four-year veteran, spending three seasons with San Francisco before joining Detroit last season. The 6-5, 305-pounder played all 16 games - starting 11 - for the Lions, who allowed the fewest sacks in the league.
Kosier likely will play at tackle, which was a sore spot for Dallas, especially after former Pro Bowler Flozell Adams was lost for the season with a knee injury.
Gurode has been one of the Cowboys' most versatile lineman since being drafted in 2002. Gurode played either guard or center in 58 of 65 games, including all 16 last season.
