  • Andre Carter or John Abraham?

    Would you rather...

Sign Carter and keep the draft pick and cap room?

    or

Trade for Abraham, giving up the pick and more cap room?

Personally, I'm cool either way, but I'd prefer the first option. Keep that pick and use it on the best available DT or TE. And, use 22 on a receiver if either Jackson or Holmes falls. That or use it on Kiwi or Hali if you really want to stack the line...

Sign Carter and keep 22 & 29. Draft Hali at 22, and Jackson with 29. If Jackson isn't there at 29, then take Derrick Hagen from ASU.....he should be available.

Make the trade and use the other first round pick to upgrade the offense somehow. Then use a round 3 pick, maybe both (how many comp picks do we get this year 1? 2?) on defensive lineman. Maybe even Dumervil if he drops.

Get abraham, and use our 22 on pope or marcedes.

Abraham is a much player then Carter. Bite the bullet, trade the pick, and enjoy the results.

I say we should get Abraham....he's a proven commodity.

However, I'm concerned that Shannahan et al might be content with Brown, Ekuban, Engleberger, and this Corey Jackson guy . The coaching staff seems to like Jackson a lot.

Andre Carter is a poor pass rusher. He may have a ripped physique, but he's so tight wound that he comes by nagging injuries easier than most. Not worth it unless proven pass rusher is still high on the list.

Think about it this way. If we don't get sacks with Abraham, than we know it is the system's fault, and subsequently what to correct (Coyer). If we don't get sacks with Carter, then we are right back in the same boat we are now, because Carter isn't proven and you are taking a gamble on an athlete, not necessarily a football player.

Yea, like I said, I'm cool with either. I'm just greedy...

But by looking at this, he's missed only 2yrs out of 5, sans '04. Everybody can get injured....it's how OFTEN and how well they come back from it.

Plus, if you take out '04, he's averaging over 7 sacks a year.......

...not shabby for being on a team with nobody around him, imo.

I checked that too RC. I think he has a problem with nagging injuries though, ala Luther Ellis or....ummm....Kevin Jones (lol, I had a hard time thinking of an example, but ya know what I mean).

I won't be disappointed if we sign Carter in lieu of Abraham, but I think it's a bit of a risk also...

Why don't you try a different key.
