  • What do they really need?

After looking at every Broncos game this year I realized they needed three more things to win the Super Bowl.

    1. A defensive lineman that gets pressure on the quarterback a least once every four downs a Michaels Strahan, Simeon Rice or Dwight Freeney would do. The Broncos never got pressure on the quarterback which makes the job of the cornerbacks and safety's almost impossible.

    2. A third dominant cornerback Champ and Darrent or both very good corners but on third and long when the Broncos go to the Nickel they gave up WAY to many big plays to the opposing teams third receiver. Maybe we can woo Ty law to the Blue and Orange.

    3. A second top notched receiver Rod is the man. I hate to say it but T.O would fit in Denver. Shanahan would have to keep him on a short leash from destroying the team chemistry in the long run.

I agree with 1 and 3, but not 2. We need a receiver and a DE for sure, but Foxworth is going to get better. If we get the DE we need, we won't have to worry about third down as much, since the QB will be pressured.

Maybe it's Dayne's 5.1 ypc in very few appearences last year. Dayne is the protypical back for Denver's system and will do well. He's not flashy or super speedy, but he can get down hill and run people down. Everyone worried about Droughns being good and he was great for us, Dayne is better than Rueben. And as a bonus he can block and pick up the blitz. Denver's system is very similar to the system Dayne ran in at Wis. and he only picked up 7,000+ yards in that system. Bell is not to be counted on but Dayne will be awesome if he can stay healthy.

Edit: Besides, at this point I think that I trust Shanny to pick a capable running back. He hasn't screwed up yet!

The bronco's need a WR. Plain and simple. If they sign TO you can expect the DE and TE need to be addressed in the 1st round with our 2 pick 1st rounder this year. If we don't sign TO, then it would be WR, DE only if the money wasn't spent on JA or AC at DE. That would thrust TE back into a first round pick again. The bronco's may have been in a little cap worry mode...but the new CBA cleared enough space for them to keep the O and D lines together leaving enough for TO or a top DE and still have excellent draft position. I just don't see Ted Sundquist giving up a first round pick for Andre Carter with the DE prospects that are available in the draft for less money. I think they'll blow their wad on TO and keep their 1st rounders.

              Cap room

Does anyone know how much money the Broncos have to spend on free agents? According to this articel http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2312714 the Eagles still owe T.O 7.5 Million in bonus money.

If the Broncos get T.O (I hope and pray they do) they can then worry about the Tight end and defensive lineman situation with the draft.

Also on my wish list Marcus Vick with a 5th of 6th round pick. They WASTED a 3rd last year on a Clarett. Vick could end up being another Randel El type reciever and out 3rd string quarterback.
