Bills | Moulds asks for his release

Leo Roth, of the Democrat and Chronicle, reports Buffalo Bills WR Eric Moulds, who has been asked to take a substantial cut in pay, wants the team to release him from the final two years of his contract so he can sign with another team. "Let him go, it's only fair," Greg Johnson, Moulds' personal advisor, said today after talking with his client. "If they're not going to pay what we feel is fair-market value, he should be allowed to go somewhere where he could maybe get it." Moulds is scheduled to count $10.8 million against the salary cap and he's due to earn $7.1 million in cash (salary and bonus) for the upcoming season.

I agree very much. It seems like or so rumors have said Abraham is going to Washington so I would love to sign him over TO anyday. Although Skins might get him some how someway....

If we get TO, we will for the first time since the days of Elway and Terrell Davis have an offense that strikes fear into the hearts of defensive coordinators.

Screw Moulds, he's old, slow, and nothing more than a decent possession receiver. We already have a good possession receiver in Rod Smith, we need a fast, physical wide receiver that gets separation from DB's (listening, Ashley Lelie?). Ashley Lelie will never be a #1 receiver and I think TO will behave if he comes here because this might be his last chance.

I'd take Moulds over T.O. in a heartbeat. Yes, Moulds and Smith are similar...... having both of them on the shorter routes would free up Lelie on the deeper routes. Even at this stage of their careers, Molds and Smith can't both be constantly left in single coverage..... one of them would ALWAYS be open. Moulds may prove to be less expensive than T.O. and would certainly be less of a risk to sign. Perhaps T.O. realizes he is running out of chances, but I wouldn't bet too much $$ on that. If a WR is drafted in the 1st round, he will more than likely need a year to develop before being ready for the #3 WR spot. David Terrell is a possibility for that spot, but at the very least, we need to sign a veteran to compete for that position. I wish we had Moulds last year....he would have made a big difference in our offense. Either Moulds or Smith would benefit from the other one being covered by the opposition's top CB....pick your poison. Lelie is a good deep threat, IMO...... but we need another tough underneath WR until a younger player develops.

Moulds over T.O.

Moulds is still a major threat on the field and alot easier to get along with off the field. He would be cheaper and will probably enjoy getting out of Buffalo to a winning team with a good chance of getting him a Super Bowl ring. There is no comparison between Moulds and T.O when it comes to fitting into the Denver lockerroom. No one will have to walk on eggshells or be careful of offending him so that he goes off and destroys the team. Its simple, T.O. sucks and Moulds will help.
