  • 49ers trade rumors

Well after Williamson put the rumors out there, I ventured over to the SF boards to see what they thought, news had already reached them and this is what they're saying: http://49ers.hosttown.com/index.php?showtopic=45518

People outside of Denver seem to be pretty high on Lelie, and a majority seem to want 2 1st rounder to better the team then 1 great player. I think a trade with GB or SF is going to happen, if not before the draft, on draft day.

Sorry, you can not add yourself to your own ignore list.

I would love it if somehow we got Walker and Vernon Davis all on draft day. ^_^ mmmmmm

SF has needs at nearly all of those positions, with RB and TE being (as far as I know) the only possible exceptions. At 6, the pick is QB, LB, S/CB, TE, or DT. They already have a top pick QB, I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest they want Ngata, and the rest of the positions overlap with those available at 15 and 22.

Not saying I'm personally in favor of this trade as a Bronco fan, but if you are, there's plenty of reason on San Francisco's end for you to believe you'll get your wish.

SF has more holes than any team in the league-- they can use as many picks as they can get their hands on!

This makes sense to me, but from their boards, all the fans seem to want Vernon Davis.

Personally, I'd want to trade down and get 2 #1 picks, but I haven't heard even a rumor that S.F. and Denver have trade talks. It's all been Green Bay.

#15 and #22 for the #6 pick makes sense to me -- but that still leaves Denver without a WR or DE or DT, all positions that could use some improvement. And Shanahan probably would like to pick up a RB somewhere.

If he stays at #15 and #22, then WR and RB or DT/DE.

If he trades up to #6 TE.

If he trades up to #5, Lelie plus #15 plus #22 for Walker and #5.

I hope they don't trade both picks. That would be a horrible decision. It would be a shame to waste 2 high picks in a deep draft. The GB scenario looks so much better than the SF deal.

Thankfully, all of this is speculation

I would love to see Denver make a move for Davis but I do not want us to give both first for him.

However, the deal with GB involving Walker is intresting and would make sense for us. If we are targeting RB, WR or TE in the first round, trading both first round picks and Lelie for Walker and #5 to get Davis would solve two of the three positions.

This would mean R. Smith, J. Walker and D. Terrell as our one, two and three WR. Vernon Davis at TE and Bell/Dayne at RB with the option of drafting a RB in the second, which is more like Mike than drafting a RB in the first.

I am not a big fan of this if it were to happen.

Two 1st rounders and Lelie for a shot at getting Vernon Davis.....no thanks.

Lelie is coming around and we need help also. We would be essentially giving up 3 players for one.

Everyone is so goo goo eyed over Davis because he can run a 4.3 40...big freaking deal.

It's not the 40 time, it's his overall playmaking ability. He can block, he can shed tackles, he's strong, he goes over the middle, he catches TDs, he was the #1 TE in the NCAA, he's the real deal.

Someone on the Mane quoted a league source as saying that Lelie is viewed as a top-10 receiver based on pure talent.

Looking at the draft value chart, the SF trade only makes sense if we trade 15, 22 for their 6 and 70 otherwise we are losing about 230 points on the deal which is way too much even for VD.

I would be all in favor of getting 6 and 70, and then drafting Davis, and a DT at 61 and maybe safety at 70. I think this would be better for us then a just trading two for one with GB or the Jets. If we get a good DT and TE on day one I would be happy.

Not sure what you mean by number 1 TE in the ncaa. I know statisticly he was not the best in college so that leaves me to believe that everyone is goo goo over his 40 time from a TE

That was just my opinion, correct. But from his season performance, to his combine, the guy is a definent playmaker.

I agree--as much heat as I took for posting this before--he is this year's Matt Jones

I don't want to hijaak this thread, but I would actually prefer a trade with the packers for a Walker and their draft pick. That way we get a proven WR and a shot at Davis.
