Let Turner do his job....
Bobby Turner, the RB coach, is a hard man to please and is very much responsible for the excellent run on good RBs over the last ten years. If Mike Bell shows the ability, or promise, to play the position up to Bronco standards, than he will be there. As a simple fan, I don't have the ability to determine who will carry the pig. If he earns the chance, he may surprize us all.

and how is that turning down being drafted?
NO RB in the 5th round on will get a fair share of playing time as a rookie in the NFL...Club Leader: Robert Griffin III > Andrew Luck

But who knows even if we would get maroney regardless of how shanny said he liked him and all. Who knows if we stayed put we could of got Allen..
But w/ Bell if he has some great work ethic look for him to compete in couple years

DT was saying we don't pay rb very well. My point if we had drafted Maroney which all indication are that is who Shanahan was going to get and he was available at the pick from what I rememeber. Maroney would then be slotted in a certain salary range and that would have more than likely made him the highest paid rb on the team.
I have nothing against Mike Bell I haven't even seen him play. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do.Last edited by TXBRONC; 06-06-2006, 10:16 AM.John 11: 25-27

Wow. What has he done in the NFL to deserve that kind of money. If we would've drafted Maroney it was bye to one of the rb's we have now. b/c from what i've seen from shanny is, he only dresses 2 rb's mostly throughout the year. And has a fb that can play rb. But in all honesty, shanny wouldnt of drafted Maroney. He never drafts rb;s in the first rd for the past 11-12 yrs. it was just to lite a little fire under Bell's butt to work harder.
I do agree with you that it's unlikely for Shanahan to draft a RB in the 1st round because he's been so successful drafting later and finding gems that fit his system better. I think he was tempted to draft Maroney because he fits the system, but only if he couldn't have reached Cutler.
