  • Anyone thinking about this guy?

I hear a lot of talk about our needs at DE and taking one in the first round, but I live in Florida and got to watch a lot of SEC football this year and everyone knows SEC football is all about speed. This kid coming from the National Champs - Florida Gators has HUGE potential and could possibly be had in the early to mid 2nd round, leaving us the possibility of getting our RB needs in the 1st round.

Jarvis Moss, DE Florida Gators. Quick speed off the edge, and one of the most feared pass rushers in the SEC conference.

Moss, at 6-foot-6, 251-pounds, was fourth on the Gators with 56 tackles, including 11 for loss. He had 7½ sacks and led the team with 12 quarterback hurries this season.

His play in the national championships (2 sacks and a FF) as well as his projected workout numbers (that height and weight plus a rumored 42 inch vertical leap and a 40 in the 4.5-4.6 range) will push him into the 1st round. In most mocks I've seen, we will most likely have the choice between Quentin Moses and Moss at 21 so it's a pick your poison type of deal. I'd be a big fan of selecting Moss.

I don't know anything about him, but his size/weight ration seems bad. Does he have a frame to put on some weight? Does he get low enough while rushing the ends?

I'm all for a great pass rusher, but he may fit better as an OLB in the 3-4 than a DE in the 4-3 a the NFL level. We'll see.

I would assume that he has some room for weight but in my opinion doesn't need much. as for getting low enough when rushing, well he reminds me of a Simeon Rice when he lines up and busts through. Absolute amazing speed and great strength. I can't say he'd work out as a DE in the NFL but he sure was a beast at his posisition in college! Definitely worth a look!

i would be pretty happy if we added moss-- he obviously has the burst off the edge that you want, and looks to have a long frame. . . i agree that either he or moses, and quite possibly both, will be there at #21. . . however, i still suspect that shanahan may target marshawn lynch in the first round (i myself will be happy with either lynch or a DE). . . if shanny wants both it's possible that he could use one of our extra selections (or potentially a player like tatum bell) to trade up from our lower 2nd rounder to get back into the top part of the 2nd if someone he likes falls a little bit. . . in a draft that has some good depth at the top of the d-line and WR classes it's likely that an end like moss, moses or abiamiri will slide out of the 1st round. . . just in terms of the raw points, our #53 and #85 would be equvalent to the value of the 5th or 6th pick in the 2nd round, and would still leave us with a high 3rd round pick. . . .

rest in peace, darrent williams and damien nash-- you will be missed!!

I wouldn't mind Moss. But I like Dog think that Lynch will be a bronco come draft day. If Moss is drafted he could very well be our Jason Taylor as they compare in size/speed and such.
