I do not how many of you saw that Smith was tagged today by the Bengals.

I know there were quite a few people on here who would have liked to see him in Denver, including me. But it does not appear that that will happen.

That is quite a surprise to me. Perhaps they arn't going to the 3-4, or perhaps they have some use for Smith in it. Either way, I doubt he would of been in our price range.

I was one of those who wouldn't of minded seeing him land in Denver

Hehe, nobody wants to give up their stud DEs. I wonder why...
Only fools bet against Tim Tebow.

      Team Tebow #108

      Yards, without points, mean nothing.

Rucker and foster waived from the PANTHERS Though, they could be some key FA's for the broncos this year Both very talented players.

It was in the news for weeks that the Bengals would tag him.

I don't see the Broncos being able to compete for a top FA DL this year with all the money other teams have anyway.

Probably the best chance would be Atlanta DE Patrick Kerney who apparently wants to follow his former line coach Bill Johnson, who was hired by Denver.

There could be some stiff competion for him though, and with other teams sitting on $20-$40 million in cap space, while Denver has $2.6 million there's no chance Denver could win a bidding war.

The best chance is that Kearney would accept a reasonable contract with a lot of incentives or something in order to stay with his coach where he's been successful -- even though other teams offered him more $.

The key question is HOW MUCH more money. The Broncos offer would have to be at least competitive with the other offers he's received, even if it weren't the top one -- it couldn't be 1/2 as much or something like that. And that's the problem.

Think of it this way. If you were applying for a job and one firm offered you $50,000 and another wanted to pay you $100,000 there's probably no contest. But if one firm you really like is offering you $50,000 with some incentives and a chance for future salary increases, and another is only offering you $60,000, you might go with your heart.
