  • Lead need RB (Denver Post article)....

As the Broncos make their final preparations for the NFL free agency and trading period, which begins Friday, one position they are looking hard at is running back.

The Broncos are taking a good look at finding a new lead back and can be expected to be in the middle of the free agency picture. In the trade market, Chicago's Thomas Jones and Buffalo's Willis McGahee are expected to be available.

The top free agents include Indianapolis' Dominic Rhodes and Tennessee's Chris Brown, a former Colorado star. Denver likely will wait to see if some players are cut in salary cap moves.

Among the most intriguing possibilities are Tennessee's Travis Henry and Baltimore's Jamal Lewis. Both are due huge bonuses and could get cut.

As for restricted free agents, San Diego running back Michael Turner is the biggest prize. But he likely will receive a high tender.

I would rather draft a RB than sign any of the players above....

Thats why I say we take the chance.........

I loved watching him in college, and the Bedlam in Boulder game made it just that much better! (He basically single handedly killed the Cornhuskers D!)

Broncos fans who also follow the University of Colorado recognize this name quickly.

Chris Brown spent two years with the Buffaloes, rushing for 2,787 yards and 35 touchdowns. He ranked third in the nation with 1,841 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior but will always be remembered for his 198-yard, six-touchdown game against Nebraska as a sophomore.

He left school early and was drafted by the Titans in the third round of the 2003 Draft. After serving a year behind Eddie George, Brown became the starter in 2004 and rushed for 1,067 yards and six touchdowns. Injuries plagued him over the last two seasons and he rushed for just 156 yards on 41 carries in 2006.

Brown requested a trade during training camp last season and one of his agents said he and his client are regrouping to head into this period of the offseason.

"We're preparing Chris for free agency, and we're looking forward to it," Ryan Morgan said in a report in The (Nashville) City Paper Feb. 20. "We feel like Chris has a lot left for whichever team he winds up fitting with."

Brown will turn 26 in April.

He had 6 TD's (if I remember right) and he did carry the Buffs to victory over the hated Huskers

That was a remarkable game by Chris

I saw that right after I posted mine - you beat me to it

He has always been a favorite of mine....I just think (trying not to be a homer) that we would be better off bringing in a young back (rookie) and letting him take the reigns....

I WANT Adrian Peterson, but that prolly aint gonna happen....so next on my wish list is MarShawn Lynch

                    Name a team that isn't

Obviously, RB, DL, S, WR, OL all need to be addressed, however, some have presidence over the others, ie, RB and DL....

Did I say Denver was the only team with multiple needs. It was kind of pointless for you to go in that direction. Is tomorrows article going to be about how Denver is leaning towards a Dlinemen or is this going to be a constant crusade by them to get a RB when there are other needs.

Don't post such an obvious statement and you won't get such a sarcastic response

I was just letting you know that youre response didnt even make sense. And criticizing the Post for pushing for a RB is not an obvious statement. How can you say its obvious when you had no clue what the comment was getting at?

i have no clue what either of you are talking about.

i love brown, he would be a great asset here i think. wasnt that games score like 68-34. didnt we just kill them.

i am really starting to lean twards bush and not lynch. bush has great size for our system, he has good speed for someone his size,(tho not a burner we got tate) and he would be available at #21. he was a qg so he should have good vision. i think we take him. or i hope if no AP.
                            So far:
                            FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
                            1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT
