  • The 2007 Broncomania Draft Competition for CPs! (Entries Only)

Back due to popular demand (okay, so one person pm’ed me and asked me where it was), it’s time for the 2007 Broncomania Draft Competition!

    Before we get into specifics:

THIS THREAD IS FOR ENTRIES ONLY!

Please direct all questions, comments, and discussions to the 2007 Broncomania Draft Competition Discussion Thread. I will monitor this thread throughout the months leading up to the draft, and will announce any significant changes to the competition there. However, all changes made to the competition will be edited into this post. There will be changes, as the first version will not have any compensatory picks included (those should be awarded to teams in late March), and there may be other tweaks to the rules and/or scoring before the draft. Hopefully not much will change, as last year's competition helped iron out some of the more obvious flaws.

That takes care of the preliminary stuff. Now let's get down to business:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each participant projects the Broncos' picks in the 2007 NFL Draft, and points for correct guesses will be assessed accordingly. The winner will receive CPs from all of the other participants for a job well done. Remember, by entering this competition you are agreeing to an honor-based contract of awarding CPs to the winner! Those who don't pay up will forever be classified as a goon!

Points for correct guesses will be awarded in the following manner:

    Correct 1st round pick = 8 points
    Correct 2nd round pick = 9 points
    Correct 3rd round pick = 10 points
    Correct 4th round pick = 11 points
    Correct 5th round pick = 12 points
    Correct 6th round pick = 13 points
    Correct 7th round pick = 14 points

Correct player, but incorrect pick # = 5 points

Good player scouting is rewarded with 5 points if that player you guessed is drafted with a different selection.

    **RULES**

    1. ALL picks MUST be finalized BEFORE the selections begin on April 28th, 2007!

-- This will be determined by your Last Edited By timestamp at the end of your entry. If your entry is edited after the official start time of the draft, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!

-- Day 2 guess changes will NOT be allowed after Day 1 has finished. This is for several reasons:

    a) It would make it difficult to determine if a participant's Last Edited By timestamp was for Day 1 or Day 2.

    b) As the Broncos fill needs on Day 1, it makes it easier to guess which positions they will target later in the draft.

    c) It removes the issue of changing Day 2 picks after a player that a participant had slated for Day 2 gets picked in Day 1.

    d) It makes it easier to score and declare a clear winner.

    2. No points will be awarded for undrafted players whom the team later acquires as Rookie Free Agents!

-- This competition is for the draft only and will be over after the Broncos final pick in 2007!

    3. TIEBREAKER -- In the event of a tie, the participant with the EARLIEST Last Edited By timestamp will be declared the winner.

-- This will award the win to the participant who had their selections finalized the earliest. It should encourage participants to think twice about making last-minute changes to their entries, requiring them to weigh the need to make a change against the importance of winning a possible tie.

    4. DRAFT DAY TRADES -- Picks that are changed, gained or lost during the draft via trades are the responsibilities of the participants to predict, and entries should reflect as such.

-- Unfortunately there's just no better way to do this. Since this competition is about predicting what will happen during the draft, any trades are fair game. Too many grey-areas arise with final scoring if everyone scrambles to change their picks in the event of a trade.

-- Projected trades MUST be realistic, meaning they must be POSSIBLE and they must come within 5% of each other on this draft-pick value chart. Trades that involve players must be realistic as well, and ANY PROPOSED TRADE CAN BE CHALLENGED BY OTHER PARTICIPANTS IF THEY SEEM UNREALISTIC!! If no consensus is reached between participants, I will have the final say as to whether the trade is acceptable or not. Entries that utilize trades MUST include a short explanation of with which team the trade occured, how many points each pick was worth, and the total number of points for each side involved!! If a player is included in that trade, the player must be disclosed as well.

    5. The ACTUAL PICK NUMBER MUST BE INCLUDED IN YOUR ENTRY!

-- The addition or subtraction of picks during the draft also brings up issues with people simply labeling picks "1a", "4b", etc. Therefore, guesses that do not include the actual pick number WILL BE CONSIDERED WRONG and WILL NOT COUNT!

    :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::

    Entries should look like this:

    Round 1 (#21) - Homer Simpson, QB, Springfield U
Round 2 (#56) - Barney Rubble, RB, Bedrock State
Round 3 (#70) - George Jetson, LB, Jane and Elroy College
    Round 3 (#86) - Scoobie Doo, S, Ruhroh Runirersity
Round 6 (#176) - Eric Cartman, DT, University of South Park
Round 6 (#198) - Meatwad, DT, Aquatine State
    Round 7 (#233) - He-Man, LB, Greyskull Academy

Please note that these pick numbers will change as compensatory picks are added to the draft, and are included for demonstration purposes only. I will update them in the coming months as necessary, and they will be correct at the beginning of the draft. Participants will be responsible for making sure their overall pick numbers are accurate. I will also update all picks that change via trades prior to the draft.

Again, THIS THREAD IS FOR ENTRIES ONLY! Any questions, comments, or discussion should be posted in the 2007 Broncomania Draft Competition Discussion Thread.

Thank you, and good luck to everyone!
