Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Anyone else sick of us picking up old worthless DL?
Chastize me if you will but how come we always seem to go for the old Browns who can't play (no shot at Cleveland intended... just simply stating that if they were good Cleveland would keep them) or OLD veterans who don't seem like they can produce anymore... Wilkonson is ok but he'd only be used on running downs if he can actually make it past training camp.
Look at our DT's:
Gerrard Warren
Alvin McKinley
Demetrin Veal
Dan Wilkinson
Antwon Burton
Amon Gordon
Now look at our DE's:
Carlos Hall
Elvis Dumervil
Ebenezer Ekuban
Kenny Peterson
Kenard Lang
John Engelberger
Now as I look at all these DL, these are my thoughts.
Warren played like a sissy last year, if he was hurt then he shouldn't have played because he didn't do much. I think that once he got paid he just quite working hard. Wilkonson is getting old and he is overweight and his production is down. McKinley doesn't look like much from his stats aquired the past few years. Burton and Gordon look to be backups at best and nothing more. Veal is a good rotational DT but not an everydown answer. Hall and Peterson look like backups or practice squad players at best or project players. Ekuban and Lang are not as productive for their price tag and they don't bring fear to anyone (ANYONE), they are not even consistant! Dumervil and Engelberger are good pass rushers with high motors but they can only really use speed as both are light and really only get pressure against weak OT's.
I like what Dumervil did as a rookie though and believe he will keep it up and get between 7 and 11 sacks.
I just don't see us upgrading the line like we should be... a bunch of supplemental or specialist (i.e. pass rushers) players together just doesn't make a productive line. We look like a Juggernaut forming but the defensive line is looking more disappointing that ever.
just my :2cents: What does everyone else think?
I'm not sure what kind of system Bates runs but I know we do need depth on the line. We tried to get Kerney but that didn't work out, so it's not like we are only targeting slugs. I don't think we would have gone after Mckinley if we didn't "misplace" Wilkonson". So it's all about covering our bases. It's makes sense to me. If they draft some Dline then I'll be happy. But what ever they draft is probably not going to make an impact their rookie year (see super mario).

Thank you for everything Darrent. I'll never forget #27.
Yeah, I'm tired of it aswell. But the only productive one out of the Browncos is Lang. He's the only one who is running at full motor all the time last year. He's a great leader for our D-Line.
I liked Lang too. Ekuban(sp?) did some good things as well. It's just hard for them to get anywhere on passing situations when we don't have DT's who put the pressure on.

I actually think the ends did a decent job of getting to the QB last year, but, no pressure up the middle let the QB just step up in the pocket.

A turf toe injury is very tough to play through, and if you thought our dline sucked with Warren, it would have been much much worse without him. Im hoping warren returns to his form of the 05-06 season, when hes fully healthy again. IF not, I dont see him sticking around much longer.
We need to address the dline with 2 picks, safety with a pick, and OT with a pick the first day. They can come in any order, but, all of them need to be addressed.

I agree. i will be a little dissapointed on draft day if this isn't what day 1 looks like.
i also agree about warren, I think he'll come back strong next season (at least until he gets hurt  )
