    Big DL rotation

How about on goalline situations we run Adams and Warren on the inside with the quicker gap penetrating Thomas and Kennedy on the outside.

heck we could go even bigger and put Crowder, Holdman, Williams and Moss/Dumervil at the LBs and move Gold back to Safety

I wouldn't be surprised for the Broncos to keep five defensive tackles around this year. Adams and Kennedy, as of now - are one year players for the Broncos - with no current extensions beyond this season. Looking at Bates' past defenses in the past at least five defensive tackles have rotated in and played part of the season, if not most in his past stints in Miami and Green Bay.

I'm guessing that Veal right now is the odd man out.

I don't think Denver will trade for Kennedy, give up the sixth and get rid of him. He'll stay on the roster - if not, that was a waste. The Broncos are going to get rid of McKinley, who signed a four-year, 8 million dollar contract. Perhaps McKinley can be a hybrid and move between DE/DT. I'm assuming Adams will make the team, just because of the size and experience he brings. Marcus Thomas cannot be a PS guy, but I don't think he'll be a phantom IR guy, he'll make the team. Then it comes down to Warren, who I've been stating for a while would be cut after this year.

I see Ekuban, Lang, Crowder, Moss and Dumervil being the five defensive ends on this team. Keeping McKinley gives us the versatility of another DE/DT. That's ten defensive lineman. That's my guess for now.

I honestly don't think it's even a question at this point that they keep ten. I don't see how they don't.

Shanahan said that Marcus Thomas is "on his own timetable when he's ready to start." They have high hopes for him, he'll make the team for sure -- especially considering that they gave up multiple picks to get him. He might even be starting by the end of the year.

McKinley and Warren can't be cut without taking cap hits. and why would they weaken their DT rotation at this point? Veal, Antwon Burton are gone, probably along with Engleberger.

Similarly, they're obviously not going to cut Moss or Crowder and if they only go with 4 DEs they're relying on 2 rookies who might not be ready to play significant roles to start with. Thus, they have to keep Lang & Ekuban to go with Dumervil.

        That makes 10 DL.

DTs - Thomas, Adams, Kennedy, Warren, McKinley
DEs - Lang, Ekuban, Dumervil, Crowder, Moss

They could make up for the extra roster spot by keeping only 5 WRs or by cutting a LB or S position or by cutting Ernster and having Sauerbrun kick off, or by using someone other than Leach as the LS.

Keeping only 5 WRs might cause a problem for special teams, since the five are likely to be:

Javon, Marshall, Stokely, Rod none of whom will play special teams, and that leaves only 1 spot for a WR who plays special teams, like:

Kircus, Brian Clarke, Hixon, Stanley Morgan or David Terrell.

It would be better if they kept 2 guys from that list, especially if one was a KR/PR. You'd like a backup KR/PR in case one goes down (they do tend to get hit a lot)!

They will be keeping ten, but I wouldn't be surprised to see maybe another guy. This is where the number crunching comes down, and I think it's a good number for debate.

Denver is going to carry six receivers, IMHO. They have for the past several years. Four receivers, two return specialists. I think Hixon and Morgan will be the return guys, and both pose value as receivers as well. In fact, Hixon is a shoe-in, he can play multiple special teams roles, including a gunner. Walker and Marshall the two main guys, with the other two being between Kircus, Smith and Stokley. I'm guessing Stokley or Kircus will be the odd man out.

With Graham being on the team, I don't see us carrying the stupid 5 or 6 tight ends like we have had in the past. What was it last year? Tony, Stephen, Nate, Leach and Mustard? There's no need for five, not at all. Daniel, Tony, Stephen and Leach will suffice. There's a roster spot right there.

With Sauerbrun back, I think Ernster is PS guy or a cut. I don't see us keeping three kickers. Todd can do kick-offs, and Elam can be the kicker as always.

We have a lot of talent on this roster, some guys who could be decent players for our team, or others will get cut. It'll be interesting to see.

im just stoked to start seeing elvis, thomas, kennedy and moss on our line on a 3rd and long...

even the great payton will be eating steak through a straw after playing us...

and seeing crowder, warren, adams and lang on the every down plays...

should be a great D this year...

i also believe that mckinley will be cut...

he is a hybrid for us...

but a hybrid that we no longer need now that we have specialists at both DT and DE...

Warren and Kennedy both have a lot to play for this year.

Warren will be playing to keep his job, and Kennedy will be playing for his next contract (He's a free agent next year).

The best part of all this is that all the DT's should be able to stay fresh and healthy (Knock-on-wood). As it stands right now, Denver has a legit FIVE man rotation at DT. How many teams can say that?

But something tells me that something has got to give. I don't think Warren will be cut this year, but you never know. He definately has his motivation this year, hopefully he stays healthy.

But cutting Warren would mean that Denver will have only Thomas and McKinley (Unless anton... is right and he's cut, which he certainly could be) under contract beyond this season. Unless they keep Veal for some ****ed up reason! And Burton and Gordon don't count.

Btw, I've been wondering if this signing has anything to do with Adams' knee. Just a thought....

I agree that we keep 10 DL this year becuase EE, Adams, and Kennedy are only here for a year (unless resigned) and we have three rookies that we do not know what to expect. As for how that effects the roster 2 QBs. 3 RB, 2 FB, 4 TEs, 6 WR, 8 OL, 10 DL, 6 LB, 9 DB, 2 ST Thats 52 players with one spot left over for the best ST player or an extra OL or DB.

                  R Ayers - B Cofield - A Haynesworth - CJ ohnson
                  J Anderson - J Beason - DJ Williams
                  R Bailey - P Amukamara - R Hill - A Goodman

Funny. His only purpose in Denver is for size. Maybe he'll just fall forward every snap and hope to take 2 guys with him.

Well, he also wants a new contract with alot of jack, so he sould be motivated.

i dont follow the roster too mcuh, but do we need 9 db's?? is that a normal number?

i would think champ, bly, foxy, paymah, and 1 or two more, maybe shoate and someone.

we should be set, even if champ and dre go down, foxy and paymeh are good enough.

                      or am i way off?
                      So far:
                      FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
                      1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

I don't wish to speak for some one else but I think the 9 DBs (not cb) are the corners and safeties combined. It sounds like a reasonable number. I do think that the long snapper was overlooked though. I guess we could get by with 3 TE and a long snapper but I don't see it happening.

I'm sure its the sum total of all defensive backs combined.
