I was at the service today... Very touching as one would imagine. I almost lost it when Tatum broke down crying... Shanny's speech moved me, as did Al Wilson's... I loved the final DB breakdown... Bowlen saying they will win SuperBowl 42 to honor D-Willy. I felt comforted knowing all the extended Bronco family was there as one, in spirit or presence. There was a bonding with the whole community that took place. For the amount of people, cars, and everything I was amazed at how orderly and smoothly everything worked itself out. It touched everyone's heart seeing the whole team together... Even all the fans, like myself, represented with honor... There were no gaukers, and photo/autograph seekers. Just people paying their collective respect to number twenty-seven.
I got to the service about noon. parked and made my way to the church. I waited in line for about ten minutes and then was shuffled to a room adjacent to the main memorial room. There were a few hundred in these side rooms. After the service I noticed everyone shuffling out, but I had to get to work so I didn't stick around, nor did I think it was cool to do so. Just being in the same building was cathartic enough and helped, and I felt like it would be rude to stick around and gaze at my beloved Broncos. In honor of D-Willy, I arrived, worshipped and prayed and threw my voice up to heaven with all the rest, and then made my way back to the parking lot. Any other thoughts from people who were there?
