Welcome Broncomaniancs,
(and you'd have to be maniacs to still be here) to week 8 of our season. Our woeful, pitful, underwhelming mess of a season.
I know some said here we are in the middle of a rebuild, but for that to happen you need something to build upon. SO what's our foundation...
five or six core players and 48 name plates taking up rosters spots?
Coaches fault, GMs fault, President or players., or all of the above. It is a mess. Made more evident on last Thursdays drubbing by the Chiefs. They lose Mahomes, which for us was the best thing to happen for us... and we allow them to score twice as many points without him.
It's not easy for us to be that bad, but we handled it like a pro. We were poor in pretty much all phases.
So our 2-3 team in heading for an early start game vs the 4-2 Colts. The same Colts that lost Andrew Luck to start their season, yet managed to have produce twice as many wins as us. Hard to believe since they don't have a Super Bowl winning QB like we do, Hmmm
We lost Sanders, which is fine, his presence wasn't lining up "W"s for us. Whatever his falling out with management was, he did what he could for us on the field. We have other WRs that we need to step up and make plays for us, and a TE that needs to show he was worth the pick.
So Brissett killed it last week vs the Texans, over 300 yards, 4 TDs and no picks. That gives him 14 for the year vs 3 Ints. He has had 5 multi TD games this season. He will still need to deal with a Denver D that is 3rd in holding opponents yards per game and per attempt. In 6 of our 7 games we have help QBs to under 250 yards.
Not that opponents need many yards or points to beat us. Under Flaccos guidance and that stellar Oline we are sporting we averaging just over 28 yards per drive... and 16 points per game most impressive. Only 3 teams are worse than us in point totals.
How do we do in week games....? Lousy. 4-6 is our record over the last decade. Of the 4 wins two were at home, two on the road. Of the 6 losses, five were on the road and on at home. So in week 8 road games we had seven tries and won only 2. Our last road win in week 8 was vs the Bengals in 2012. (I was there)
Hopefully we put up a better fight this week. Hopefully we protect JOE better and open up some running lanes. We made KC look like all starts on defense when they were not, that was just how bad we were performing. Still I'll be rooting for our team. Have to hope they can start reversing this all at some point.
To all out there, thank you for being with us at this rough time. We are all in this together, including the mods. Let's please all follow the COC and
make this season less harder on them then it needs to be. Hope you all have a Happy Halloween and we get the Treat from Indy. Good luck and as always, GO BRONCOS!
