  • Official Game Day Thread: 2020: Week 5: Broncos vs Pats

    Okay Broncomaniacs,

It has been a while, but the Broncos are finally playing again. Coming off a Win and a bye week. Heck we haven't lost since Sept 27th. That's probably the longest stretch we will see this season. So our last lost was to Tom Brady, and our next game is vs his old team the Pats. While Tom may be gone, Belechick is still a force to be reckoned with. The only thing he cant out coach is Covid Awareness to the team. They got some problems in NE.

The game is being played though. Patriots are not who they were, the Broncos are not who we want them to be. Cam is coming back, while Gordon is going to the sideline. Phillip Lindsey is back for us to take his place though. Drew Lock may be back otherwise its back to Rypien we go. Rypien was not sacked at all last week, but maybe because they didn't need to sack him with the 3 interceptions he gave out.

Sure we would rather have faced Hoyer/Stidham, but the early bye week messed that up. Pats have been one of the top league leaders in rushing this season. They put up 185 yards on the ground vs KC. Denver though is only 13th against the rush this season. That is still better that our 17th ranking against the pass. Newton averages 9 rush attempts in the 3 games he played this season. Fangio may choose to put an extra man in the box in an attempt to slow them down. Pats aren't that great at topping the rush, so we may see some open lanes.

Denvers pass rush started getting traction vs the Jets. We had 6 sacks an 10 QB hits last game. We have had Bradley Chubb sightings! The Pats have given up 7 sack in their first four games, so it is possible to get to the QB.

Not sure what to expect out of this team, should be an interesting game to watch. We have not faired well in Week five tilts. over the last decade we are 4-6 in week five games. All fours wins have come on the road. Of the six losses three were on the road and 3 were at home. This team may not give us wins, but I have seen effort out of them, that counts for something. Hopefully we can 'Lock" in a win. It won't be easy, especially in NE, but the Broncos never make it easy on their fans.

It's good to be back, Win or lose I support this team, and if your reading this you do to, cuz who else would stick around for the last 5 years?
Please remember to be careful what you post. Follow the COC and report any violations to the Mods. Be kind to each other, it can be an ugly world out there.
Hoping I like what I see tomorrow form this team no matter who we put on the field. As always Go Broncos!!!

Hope to see improvement building on the previous win. Our offense may have its hands full.

    Go Broncos!

This is another statement game, like many in the past few years. At some point you would think we would become a legitimate football team and win some of these bigger games? For better for worse this is a statement game.

I used to write my predictions and go into analysis on what I think is going to happen, but frankly I have no expectations. With this injury-riddled, crazy season— I actually find it refreshing. Win or lose, I hope this team shows fight and that the young talent shows promise. It’s (finally) another game to evaluate Lock as the starter and I have confidence that he will stay healthy so we can get a full-game sample size. He didn’t look good at all in his brief action in the PIT game, but I was willing to attribute it partially to our underwhelming OL and a phenomenal Steelers defense. While I stated I have no expectations, I am hoping for Lock to trust his eyes and make quick decisions (even if it means throwing the ball away). Our defense will likely play another Fangio “bend but don’t break” style of game, which is fine. I hope to see Fangio bring the heat like he did against Darnold, but I don’t know their gameplan.

No matter the outcome of this game, I’m glad the team stayed safe for the most part and followed protocols. It’s felt like forever since the NYJ game, so I am simply happy that Broncos football is officially back on the menu .

Wish Von was healthy and playing this game, he always seems to Enjoy a Cam Newton Sandwich. Hopefully Chubb picks up the slack again.

Every presser I have seen leads me to think he is.

Lock pressers have been straight out he is starting. Vic has been "well we will see but right now thinks are trending towards Lock starting barring a setback" Not word for word but pretty much what Vic has said all week and even then only giving information beyond Questionable when lead by the person asking the question.

Something I found out this week...only two injury designations are Out and Questionable. Vic said Lock would be probable if it were still available

Driskel inactive. If Lock is starting, we better keep him upright. Though with Wilkinson our, he should do a lot better.
