  • Official Game Day Thread: 2021: Week 12 Broncos vs Chiefs

    Hey Broncos fans

Welcome to week 12 where the 6-5 Broncos take on the 7-4 Chiefs.

Last week was nice, another surprise Bronco win. The D dominated the game. If it wasn't the ineptitude of Lock, the blow out would have been bigger.
So as hard as it is to believe we are here in December with a chance at first place. For that to happen. things would have had to go well for us and
bad for the Chiefs. Luckily both have happened.

So we are here, A prime time game, on the road, in Arrowhead, in December, against a division rival, who is coming off a bye week.
That is not a good situation to find yourself in.

So which Bronco team will show up, the one who dominated the Dolts & Cowboys or the one that looked so pathetic against the Browns & Eagles.
We need our D to be dominant if we want to have a chance in this game.

I'm sure we will here ad nauseum how good Mahomes is. He is very good, but also a bit overrated at times. He could fumble the ball and Al Michaels would complement him on the bounce it took.

KC has struggled some this year and it has been their defense that has helped them win some of their past few games. In fact : The Chiefs have won 3 of their last 4 games while scoring 20 points or fewer. Yes, less than 20 with Mahomes as a QB.

We have struggled as well vs KC. They have owned us the last 11 games we played them. It is like the curse of Manning. We haven't beaten them since we benched him for sucking that game. No matter who the QB is we cant seem to get the "W" vs them. Mahomes is 7-0 vs us. Can't like those numbers.

Offensivley they are ranked # 2 to our 22nd, so we know we cant win in a shoot out. Rushing they are 19th to our 17th, so will having Javonte be the main carrier help our cause.
He runs hard. but is it enough or will be abandon it to early as we have done before? Denver is 6th defensively, KC is 19th. So there should be areas we can exploit if we
can make the right play calls and execute.

Teddy Talk, We needed him for the win last week. Locks appearance should have showed us that. Teddy Bridgewater has had a 100+ passer rtg in each of 6 wins this season (sub-100 rtg in each of 5 losses) Simply put if he sucks, we suck.

The bye week factor: Andy Reid is 19-3 (.864) as a head coach coming off a bye in the regular season. Only 3 teams out of 21 have beaten Reid off a bye week.

Week 12 games over the last decade in general have been kind to us. W.e are 8-2 overall. Of the 8 wins 6 were on the road, 2 at home. Of the 2 losses both were away games. The last one being against the chiefs last year in a 22-16 loss.

Chubb should be playing more, Bolles should be back. A bigger roll for Javonte. A struggling KC Is it a recipe for sucess? We can hope. Sometimes the Broncos ar ethe best cure to another teams woes. Let's avoid that being the case. I can't stomach a prime time beat down by a conference rival. A loss put us two games out and really hurt any wild card chances we may have had.

Win-Lose or draw please follow the COC. We're in this together. Ups and down we fell them all every week. Hoping we play smart, hard and come out safe. The team knows what this game means. Lets hope they are hyped up. Ready to play, that we have a great game plan and we stay healthy enoug to compete. A continuing thank you to the Mods who volunteer their time here endlessly week after week. Keep the faith and as always GO BRONCOS!

                      Go Broncos!

D needs to step up big today. Have not played well against Mahomes yet, but if they can keep him relatively in check, we can keep feeding Williams and control the ball a lot today. Maybe eek out a W.

We can only hope that our team approaches tonight like a playoff game. Quite literally a battle for 1st in the division. Sounds crazy considering our season to this point, but credit to the coaches and players for continuing to fight— and thanks to other teams for handing our division rivals the losses to make this thing even close .

With that being said, as a fan this does feel like a pretty big deal. I don’t want to get too excited because the past 5 years has repeatedly crushed any bit of optimism I would have every year— but dang it, I bleed Orange & Blue and I hope we take it to KC and resoundingly snap our 11-game losing streak. We almost beat them last year on SNF. I truly believe we were a KJ Hamler drop and Fangio refusal to go for it on 4th and short at midfield (while trailing by 3 with six minutes to go) from winning. Anyways, this 2021 Broncos team is better and healthier than last years. Let’s hope we can surprise the nation tonight in primetime.

Yes. The bottom line for me....this feeling is so much better than at various points of the season! We are definitely in this!

And yes, realists do not just get caught up in the moment. There are things that I am not sure about. But as a realist, and a fan, I feel like we are fortunate as of this day, to be having meaningful conversations about what this team has to offer. Since some of us fought the fight in terms of why this is more than just a whim, and that we do have talent, and we do have a future, I find the stories are becoming more prevalent, and rightfully so. Suddenly folks were realizing that our draft this past year was already a success in so many ways, as the young men are making their names as starters in many cases. Suddenly names like Surtain and Williams were league wide respected, and names like Browning and Cooper and others, were getting a chance to show their talent in big time action. Heck, we are just a few games past halfway, and so many of these rookies are becoming a factor.

And so many of our other players are stepping up, as well as the fact injured players are returning.

Not a perfect storm, but some similarities.
