Official Game Day Thread: 2022 Season: Week 17 Chargers VS. Broncos
Hey Bronco fans,
Finally the end is here. Couldn’t have come soon enough. This season which we had so much hope for was DOA. WR corps were all injured at parts of the season. O-line was swiss cheese. Wilson was woeful. Coaching was cruddy. It was a mess by any measure. Defense tried their best, but even they gave it up in games where we had a chance. Within 24 hours our season is officially over.
The Injury to Damar Hamlin occupied much of the news week and rightfully see. Because of it KC backed in to the Top seed in the AFC. Playing the Raiders without Carr today was almost like a preseason game for them. Fortunately Damars health is improving, and the way people rallied to support his charity is absolutely amazing. As of today it was over 8 million dollars. It shows how kind people could and should be. Hope he continues to improve whatever his future may be.
As for us, Denver has permission to talk to Sean Payton. Payton is no rookie coach and wouldn’t make the same rookie mistakes that Hackett did. An established coach…. Imagine that….. if it works out that we can get him. Will be interesting to see who even wants to come to Denver. I'm kinda done with these Rookie head coaches. I do hope we keep Evero.
He has done an amazing job consider what a dumpster fire the offense has been.
Need to get healthy to as a team. It was ridiculous how many injured players we had this year. This team needs to recover and reload. I don’t think the term rebuild applies. I think Russ can be better that what we have seen. ( He couldn’t have been much worse at times) We have a solid defense and have seen flashes of what this offense can do. We can definitely be better than what our record suggests.
To finish the season we face the Chargers. They are playoff bound regardless of what they do. All we Hcan do is make it a little harder for them. We played well last week, with some better execution and reffing we have a chance here.
How do we do in week 17 games? Well last year was the first year for that schedule and we lost at home to the Chiefs. So we are 0-1. Hopefully we can make it 1-1 and end the season on something positive.
So its 4-10 vs 10-6. Sad when they have more losses than we have wins and are going to the playoffs. The 10th ranked offense vs our 24th. Defensively after the last 2 games we dropped to # 7 , Dolts are 18. They are 4th passing and 30th rushing. So that should play into our secondary, provided we are invested in the game and not phoning it in.
Dolts are coming off a win vs the Rams, the same Rams that stole our lunch money and humiliated us for Christmas. Dolts have a four game win streak. Denver has won 1 game in our last 8 attempts. Herbert has been making the most out of Allen, Williams and Ekeler in the passing game. (Ekeler has 103 catches this season.) He also ran for 122 yards last week.
Most experts are picking the Dolts. Especially the way the D has played the last two weeks. Mahomes passed for over 300 yards last week and passed for 3 TDs. Two to his running back. So Ekeler may have a good game. At least some of the experts expect us so score in the 20s. Which we have been scoring more the last few weeks overall.
Hopefully we make a good showing and end the game healthy. Been such a turbulent season I am glad for our offseason so I can take a break from being disappointed on a weekly basement. To those who shared the misery of the season week after week here. Thank you. I hope we make some moves in the offseason to make us a better team going into next years. The new owners are showing they want more than what the last 7 seasons have given the fans.
Thank you Mods for another season. You hang in here tirelessly week after week no matter how bad it gets. To those here, let’s end on a good note and follow the COC for them. Hang in there Denver faithful, at some point it has to be better. We have a lot of pieces just need a few more I think. I’ll see ya in the post season and off season.
