I'm gonna say Henry. My darkhorse is Hall though.

It appears to me from this article that the Broncos want Travis Henry back next year. They must feel that it ain't broke either.

Henry aims to make good for Broncos

Article Last Updated: 01/29/2008 01:35:13 AM MST

Travis Henry (Post file)Travis Henry spent the first month of the offseason stewing about the past season and thinking of a way to make it up to the Broncos, who must decide whether to keep him or cut him. Henry made his choice clear Monday.

"I want to make it right to the Broncos, the fans and myself," he said. "I want to be a Bronco and make it all right. I don't want to be anywhere else. I owe those people something for all that happened last year. I want to clear my name there. I'm so hungry to do right there."

What bothers Henry most about his first season in Denver and seventh in the league was that it all started so well before imploding. After the first four games, Henry led the NFL in rushing and looked the part of the tailback the Broncos made a priority in free agency and spent $22.5 million over five years to obtain.

Then in early October, word of an alleged positive drug test broke and Henry faced a possible one-year suspension. He filed a lawsuit against the NFL over the test, and after a 54-day saga, Henry won an NFL appeal to keep playing. However, Henry suffered a series of knee and rib injuries that ruined his season. In the final 12 games of the season, Henry missed four games and didn't have more than 65 yards in a single game. He didn't have a carry in the season finale against Minnesota.

"It was my toughest season," Henry said. "It was a big distraction for everyone, and then I started getting hurt. It was just a bad season all around."

Henry said he felt pressure in August when a lawsuit was filed against him in Georgia for child support. The suit disclosed that Henry had fathered nine children by nine women.

"All this stuff about my kids came out, and that hurt," Henry said. "I just want to forget about this season and be the best I can be for the Denver Broncos. I really want to make it work for the Broncos. I love that system and that history, and I know I can do well there. I just want that chance."

The Broncos owe Henry $6 million in option bonus money, and the team has had preliminary talks with his agent about the future. While there is a chance Henry could be a salary cap casualty in the next month, the team would like to keep him because he is a bruising back, and he would complement the faster, younger but injury-prone Selvin Young. Henry said he is keeping out of the financial affairs, but it is clear he wants to return.

"I'm already back in Denver working out," Henry said.

I think that we have a "true halfback". Let's hope that he stays healthy.

Are you joking, that has nothing to do with Denver FO! That is his mindset and his own thoughts, let alone of Williamson who let's it serve his own needs. That is a trash article, Henry is about as big a joke as Ricky Williams only injured far more! That article is a pitty me article, I see nothing positive, it is not from Shanny or Sundquist, so it means nada. Henry was blaming everything from his effecient parenting, injuries and everything else. If anything I disslike him more for it, that was a pathetic attempt to beg for one's own career.

I cannot see Denver taking a RB in the draft or from free agent unless Henry is cut. Andre Hall and Selvin Young have proven to be worthy 1 & 2 backs...

...and if the case is that Denver is looking for another back I hope its T. Choice

Wild Willie Williamson actually gets to talk to the owner, front office personnel, and the players. Do you? Is your post presenting your thoughts and serving your own needs? Of course it does that is what people on message boards post. So was mine. The author appears to be in a little better position to know what Shanahan thinks than you or I.

IMHO the article is an "I screwed up, I'm sorry, and I'd like one more shot to fix things" article. He gave a chronological listing of what had taken place. After Shanahan went to bat for him to the tune of getting a $20 000 fine from the NFL, I assume that Travis feels he is beholding.

As for your pathetic attempt to discredit Travis, since your name isn't on his check, your opinion probably will not have any greater significant effect than mine would. I wonder though, would you really want someone playing for you or working for you that didn't want the job?

Dean, really man give it up...I respect your posts big time, but Henry has discredited himself long ago. And I do not think he needs help, but I agree...I would not want someone working for me if I did not think they wanted to be here, but that also does not mean I am going to give a guy a second chance when he got one by getting the job and he fits what his last employers said about him when I hired him! Think on that, he said it would be different, no off the field problems, no drug altercations and he would be ready to carry the load, not one of what he claimed actually happened. And I am not defending the poster you mentioned this to, but if you hired a guy who never was healthy and had drug issues, even if he proved otherwise but the league said it was on them...would you still really want that guy working for you?

Cane, thanks, but I still want him back and I think that Shanahan does too. Do you give your players one shot and then cut them loose? I don't. To deprive a man of his livelihood he would have to have hurt the team more than Henry has done.

As for injuries, it sounds like Travis and Selvin will be sharing the load. That significantly decreases the risk of injuries.

Just a couple of months and we will know for sure what is going to occur.

I think he may very well be back, but it will be at a reduced cost. If he doesn't take a cut in pay then I do think we cut him loose.

The one question that keeps coming up in my mind is this:

If Henry comes back, we let go of Walker and Lynch retires. AND then we are "sold" on our OT's... who do we take in the first?

I love all the theory and thought part of the offseason, it just makes me kind of dissapointed when we do stuff that makes little sense (a certain running back a few years ago in the 05.... )

Sorry to quote myself but for backing Henry and presenting the viewpoint that the Broncos were not looking at a RB in the first but rather an offensive tackle I received a lot of pot shots.

A lot of people thought Denver would go OT, and more specifically Clady, once the season ended.

Shanahan didn't need to get his Rb in the first. He found his in the 5th.
