  • The Mock Draft I think everyone can agree on (7 rounds)

    7 Round Darft released 2/15/2008
Broncos #12 Ryan Clady -- has the Bengals reaching on Balmer, and the Jets taking Calais Campbell which might be likely after the combine and since it is a copycat league.
#44 Erin Henderson OLB Maryland -- He has Rivers slipping to the round 2 six spots before us along with them getting Matt Ryan in the first.
#98 Demarrio Pressley -- 5 star prospect out high school, was expected to have a big year this year but was nagged by injuries and faced a lot of double teams, he had a poor senior bowl but if he bounces back to full strength he could be a steal. I would like to see a DT add via FA and maybe one picked up a little sooner.
#107 Jamar Adams S Mich -- Not a bad pick I would like to see a Free Safety with some range but we have never had one. But some posters have commented on him. There are still some better safeties IMO on this board.
#116 Owen Schmitt FB WVa -- I know a lot of you guys got a mancrush for this guy... Heck with what he did for Slaton and Devine... And White I do too.
#139 Davonne Bess WR Haw -- The type of receiver I think we need to compliment with Marshall to me he is similar to Wes Welker and Brandon Stokely.
#203 Mike Dragosavich P ND st -- Been mentioned by a few people on the board. We need a punter, Tavares Gooden (big fall) a pick before would have been better
#211 Omar Haugabook QB/WR Troy -- Would replace Rod as the emergency QB. When I saw Troy games this guy was good, could be a solid returner and stretch the field receiver, Dexter Jackson out of Appy St might also

I think you are wrong...I am weary of Clady, great prospect...but maybe not worth the risk, I think Williams is a better prospect overall. But Clady is an option...if I could choose any first round tackle I would go with Otah, but that is highly unlikely...he is a man-beast and he has a killer instinct like Long. Henderson is a good option, but I question his killer instinct and we need a defensive tackle if we go offensive line or some kind of weapon, I would prefer Dre Moore. Jamar Adams is one of my top prospects and one of my gem picks, so I love that pick. Scmitt...it is not going to happen, we use tight ends over fullbacks in our scheme and we are likely to take a true halfback somewhere and until then fullback is out of the question. Bess is an option if available for depth, but there could be more fitting receivers still available. I understand the punter pick and it is a possibility but the other is highly doubtfull...lol.

Some feesable options though most of it is highly unlikely...Shanahan told Adam Schefter he wanted to give Cutler weapons and you have none.

Bennett is the proverbal Double Wammy for the Broncos. Not only does he have a solid Build as a WR, that reminds you more of a "Rod Smith type WR" not flashy but smart, strong and great hands that has some chemistry with Cutler. Plus he knows how to pass block down the field for a RB. So if anything Bennett would be the higher pick over Royal. But I wouldnt mind Royal either.
McDaniles Career as a failure of a Head Coach is being fulfilled. Termination of McFailure has happen.

Rejoice Bronco Fans we have taken our team back, but at a heavy cost.

i'm pretty sure we don't have three, 4th round picks. One of those should be a 5th from Oakland, not a 4th. I don't agree with many of the picks though, especially don't agree with drafting a fullback when fullback is the least of our team's worries.

Got it, I was looking for our fifth rounder we got from the Raiders, but that might have been a conditional pick that boosted with the playing time Warren got... I thought it was a fifth rounder though... Does anyone know for sure?

I certainly agree with Williams over Clady.

To be honest (and no offence) Schmitt and Dragosavich are the only two I agree with in this mock.

I have to disagree, I think we have just gotten used to a scheme without a true fullback and therefore don't realize the importance of the position to our team. First of all Schmitt would help in the redzone, in the pickup of short yards, as a beefy run blocker for our backs. Plus the guy has hands and is a monster. This would be a major upgrade to our offense.

We want and need more physical game play. We must pick up players like this before we get outplayed by the teams who pick players like Owen Schmitt.

Clady is more of a mauler than Williams and will be a better fit at RT than LT. Williams is more of a finesse player is a natural LT. So it really depends where you think the need is greater.

I like Clady better because Harris was drafted last year as a natural LT, Pears can play both positions as backup. So that leaves us with optimal depth. If we get Williams, we have 2 natural LT's and a very mediocre (please prove me wrong Pears) RT.

As for this draft, I like it. I think Demarrio Presley could be Frank Okam og Dre Moore instead (hopefully) as Presley is a bit undersized for what we need.

There will never be a mock that everyone agrees upon. Never.

                        Example:

Bronco Rob says FB is not a need. I think it is.

lancane " we use tight ends over fullbacks in our scheme"

                        WHY?

Because Sapp isn't a FB. We didn't have a problem using Howard Griffith, Dwayne Carswell, and Shannon Sharpe in the same offense.

I love seeing the Schmitt pick in the 4th. I'd spend a 3rd to get him if we somehow managed to get one.

It's no secret I'm sporting wood for Schmitt. Excuse the mini rant.

But Shanahan himself is the one who said we do not use a true fullback, that is why we use tailback retreads as fullbacks in our system...and if I thought for one minute we may finally take a fullback, I would go with Jehuu Caulcrick from Michigan St.

He did. You're right. He also said..when interviewed before the Chargers game that all he wanted was an offensive line like the Cowboys. Then at his season ending presser he's happy with the status quo up front.

                            What changed?

Why did we go from a system that used House, Sharpe and H Griffith, two TE sets that included a true FB, to using tweeners to play the position?

                            Sometimes I wonder about Coach.

We most likely won't get Owen, I agree with you on that. I hate it, but I agree with you.

I just like the kid, and I think he's NFL ready now.

I watched some youtube videos of Caulcrick earlier in the week. Pretty impressive. He steamrolled the 2006 Notre Dame team. I wouldn't complain one bit if we took a shot on him either.
