  • Trade idea and how it can effect our draft...

hey guys ive been watching the combine pretty close like most of you and have been thinking of ways to improve our broncos team, so i spent a little time thinking of how i might do it, lemme know what ya think:

first im hoping and assuming we keep Javon walker, he may have hurt feelings with what he said but we really gain nothing in trading or releasing him, he is far more valueable to our team on it, him and b-marsh are tough so with that said here we go.

First we probably all agree that our biggest teams needs are DT, OT, LB, and S positions.

I propose this trade with detroit:

we Give : 12th pick in draft
    Ian Gold
    Dominique Foxworth

we Get: 15th pick in draft
    Shaun Rodgers
    Detroits 3rd rounder

and the draft would go as follows:

with the 15th pick we take either keith rivers or dan conner, one should be available then, if we get conner Dj moves back to Will, if rivers DJ stays put at mike, if both happen to be gone we take Ryan Clady

in the second round if we get a LB in the first then we go with either G. Cherilus or Sam Baker, both very capable OT that could help us either immediatly or in the near future. If clady was our choice in the first then our pick here is Tavares Gooden, he is playmaker plain and simple, and would also give our LB corpse a lift. Erin henderson is also an option here but i am partial to Gooden.

with detroits pick in the third round we take S Tyrell Johnson from Ark.st. not a sexy pick but he seem to be fundamentally sound in both the run and pass.

i believe this would upgrade all positions of need without perging the FA market like in the years past and also gives us flexibility for the future.

any comments good or bad are encouraged and thanks for reading

i like the trade, makes sense since detriot just let go of fernando bryant and are probably looking for a corner.

i just doubt that javon stays with us, that being said i would add WR to the "needs" list

Not too shabby... especially if DET wants to move up in the 1st and grab a CB.

I personally hope we don't spend our first round pick on a LB. That being said, I dont' personally think Clady will be around at 15 either.

I dont' mind moving down, but that depends on what we grab in FA.

1st of all its bad Business to trade the first before the Draft,

a team that trades their 1st virtually tips their hands to the opposing GM's saying "hey were gonna draft this kid, hopefully we get them" with a bull horn tied in with a sub woofer. Thats how big of a noise trading positions are.

Foxworth is an RFA and we can easily slap an mid 3rd point value pick.

Trading our 2nd, Bell and Foxworth for Rodgers and their 2nd is more workable as trading in the 2nd's is not generally tipping your hand since your just moving around in the later rounds which wont show what were doing at all.

The 2nd Bell and Foxworth is equal point value of a low 2nd which DET is looking for in essence a 2nd rounder.

Yet this trade is more of a promotion of a certain player which we may not get with a trade of our first because the teams ahead of us will make sure we wont get them because of our tell signal.

Clady is too raw, Williams lacks a mean streak, both didnt impress me in the bench press which makes me think how much endurance do they have in their arms. Otha is probably the better pick in the 1st round, we got no shot at Long but we have better chances in the lower rounds to get a good OT.
McDaniles Career as a failure of a Head Coach is being fulfilled. Termination of McFailure has happen.

Rejoice Bronco Fans we have taken our team back, but at a heavy cost.

              ands it's corps not corpse!

But I do like the trade idea. I think a healthy Walker needs to play for us!

This is close to the mock that I am working on. I used your first trade with Detroit because it is the most reasonable for both teams and we keep our second, which we need.

I have Baker falling to the third, where we pick him. If not, then Cherilus will be there. I have us taking Kevin Smith in the second round. The players are on my current signature if you want more. I will post the mock when I am more certain, probably after the free agent flurry this weekend. I am still deciding whether we reach a bit for Smith or Forte falls to our pick in the 2nd.

Thanks for the post and the creative, yet realistic trade with Detroit.

as long as its not this crappy trade.

                  From a Detroit radio station

Broncos send Dominique Foxworth and a 2nd round pick to Lions

Jets send Dewayne Robertson and 5th to Broncos

Lions send Shaun Rogers to Jets

and the deal will be announced tomorrow

Are we decided to pay penance for the Bly deal with that trade? I'd take Rogers and leave the Jets out. Why would we trade a second AND Foxy? Someone is playing too much Madden at that radio station.

Your right someone is playing madden too much.

Foxworth is RFA meaning we can slap any type of number on him and make a team pay through the nose.

Hell Foxworth Rodgers trade = equal value right there.

there is no way the broncos would do this deal...either foxy or a 2nd would be sufficient alone. that being said either would be too steep imo.

I think the best scenario for the Broncos in a trade would be to work out something like Javon Walker and Foxworth to the Jets for Dwayne Robertson and Jonathan Vilma. If they were willing to take this trade we would address two needs in one shot with experienced players. Plus we lose a disgruntled player in the process (Walker), and Vilma can go to the middle put dj back outside, like their days at the U. Plus it lets us keep our picks and a shot on picking up one of the top 5 D-Lineman in the first round. with Elvis, Thomas, and Moss we have a young core that could use one more young d-lineman and with the help of a veteran like Robertson could develop into a strong line.
