  • Boss Bailey possibly to Packers?

from PFT: The Packers are showing interest in free agent LBs Boss Bailey and Brandon Chillar.

On a side note, what do we do at DT now that there is no talent left in the free agency/trade pool and with a very weak draft (the top two DT's wont fall to us either)

What would you do if you were Boss Bailey?

He can either go to the Packers, a team that will fall apart when Favre retires or gets injured...

Or, he can go to the Broncos, who are rebuilding and on the uprise hopefully (Shanahan is an idiot for not getting a DT in FA or through trade). Plus he gets to play with his brother if he signs with Denver.

I think if Denver wants to sign Boss Bailey then we will get him. He could not find his way out of his brother's shadow in Detroit so he might as well play on the same team as him and learn from him (even though they play different positions).

As for DT there is always Trevor Laws in the second.

We get by with lesser players, trade for a cheap vet like we did last year for Kennedy, or we offer Foxworth and our #1 to NE for the #7 pick and take Ellis or Dorsey if they fall. I don't see that happening though so probably one of the first 2. It would be nice if Marcus Thomas is telling the truth too.

What we do is draft a true NT to play alongside Thomas. We don't need Dorsey or Ellis, we drafted Thomas last year to be what they are

Or we can draft a talented rookie that isn't a big name (the top 2) and let him develop, take a crap DT middle (due to it being so young) and just get by as best we can with everyone else.

Fan's need to learn that you don't need to always fill a BIG need with a BIG NAME player such as-Rodgers or Ellis, Dorsey or C.Williams...

Hmmm, play with your brother or play someplace closer to where you live now and stay in the division?

                Money will tell...

Would he even start in Green Bay? He would probably have to compete here, but would eventually win I think.

Coleman is a possibility...right now I am sure Shanahan is kicking himself for listening to Bates and trading Warren to Oakland, he was not great but he could have started while we groomed someone for the position. In the same breath Denver is supposedly big on McKinley, Thomas and Harris. Right now I think it is very likely that we will draft two defensive tackles, both more traditional nose tackles.

What we do in the first right now is up in the air, if we stay I think we take a playmaker, if we trade down...which is a possibility we probably will try and get someone who is a solid starter, or more capable to be.

It's hard to imagine a rookie DT coming and being a differnece maker, even Dorsey or Ellis. I think a rookie will struggle if that's our plan.

that is generally what happen. Rookie dts rarely make a huge impact as they suddenly have to learn technique stuff they didn't need to in college.. especially high draft picks who are talented because usually in college they merely were more athletic than the people they played.

FO had a study on it in the ESPN Draft mag last year... but I dunno where I put mine... sorry

Why wouldn't you wanna play w/your BROTHER???I no I would....That doesn't happen every day in the NFL...with a guy named CHAMP and BOSS....look out...those could be the greatest names ever on a d fence

The word on Coleman is that he is deep in contract negotiations with Tampa. The opinion is that he is using other teams for leverage, but he really wants to play in Tampa. i don't see it working. Robertson's trade fell through, but that was because he refuses to take less money. Both of those scenarios seem unlikely for us.

If we build a stout LB core, we can probably get by with the DTs we have plus one rookie of Laws or even Okam ilk. We could also add a guy like Tripplett, but I don't know if he is any better than the guys we have.

                            -my two cents.

                              The question is more like:

Hmmm... play with your brother, and a crappy defensive line with no great DT,

                              OR

Play with a YOUNG Packers defense, with a tough front four...

                              Hmmm......
