Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

That is true. I'm sure DEN is willing to move the picks... and would get him if they wanted him... I'm sure they wont accept his contract. I'm not even sure we COULD take that hit this year, w/out going over the cap?
A shame... I think it would be a perfect fit for what we need.
Maybe we can work out a contract when/if he becomes a free agent.
But you are ignoring the fact that Denver pulled out of the trade talks for a reason. That reason most probably was the realization that Robertson is unwilling to renegotiate his contract... period.
Do you honestly feel that the Bengals don't have a knowledge of the contracts and cap space? You think that you can figure something else out that the Bengals couldn't or didn't try?
The Broncos pulled out of the talks, and it took about one day for the Bengals to figure out that Robertson wasn't going to renegotiate. Whats that tell you? I know it tells me that he's not willing to renegotiate.... period.
Of course it would be nice to get him. Of course we know we would have to spend big bucks to get him. But if he's not willing to renegotiate, he's not willing to renegotiate. He's not worth 10 million against the cap.
So what do you think the odds are we get him after hes released at a lower cost?

I doubt we can touch him then, teams with more cap room will be gunning for him big time...lol.
IMHO I believe we will either sign some unknown defensive tackle, another Colbert-esq player, but more then likely just draft two solid nose prospects in the draft.
According to a source close to the Bengals, Cincinnati called off the trade because of concerns about Robertson's problematic left knee.
Remember in 2005, Robertson was having problems with the knee, and Herman Edwards shut him down for the season in December.
Well at the time, Edwards said that Robertson had "bone-on-bone" in the knee.
That can be a career-ending condition. Just ask Curtis Martin.
Well according to the Bengal source, after D-Rob took a physical, the team didn't like the reports they were given on the left knee. So the deal was called off.
The irony of this story is that Robertson played the last two years on that knee without missing a game.
But Robertson's left knee condition could make it hard for the Jets to get market value for D-Rob.

I can't see us hinging that much of the DT position on rookies Lanc...
I'm guessing the no name FA thing comes to fruit first....
That is if there is anyone even worth signing a no namers contract left

Very likely we will see some kid or very old veteran between 330 to 350lbs. who really has been nothing but a backup elsewhere be given a chance at the job.
This makes me wonder if this is whats keeping Denver from jumping on this guy. Could be they are feeling the effects of Javon Walker and his knee to think about spending more draft picks for another knee.
The Bengals reportedly may have backed out of their proposed trade for Jets DT Dewayne Robertson due to a bone-on-bone condition in his knee.
The Bengals may have balked at giving him a long-term deal because of the knee. Robertson recently also had hand surgery, but that was a non-issue.
