  • Suprise, Suprise!!!

The date is April 26th, 2008, the NFL draft has finally arrived and every Broncos fan has come to the conclusion that heading into the weekend our basic needs are O-Line and D-Line since we don't address either in Free Agency!

Mike Shanahan however has something different in mind, this man is scheming something and nobody is aware. Only Mike knows what's really going on and as we all speculate on these boards that the Broncos will trade down and get more picks or they trade up to get Ellis or Dorsey (an odvious need), they do something completley off the wall as Mike Shanahan is known for and we all are left speechless!

The first hour goes a little something like this (since it will move along alot faster this year!

Pick 1. Miami: DE Chris Long
Pick 2. St. Louis: OT Jake Long
Pick 3. Atlanta: QB Matt Ryan
Pick 4. Oakland: DT Sedrick Ellis
Pick 5. Kansas City: OT Ryan Clady
    Pick 6. N.Y. Jets: DE/OLB Vernon Gholsten
    Pick 7. New England:
[SIZE="3"]Commissioner Roger Goodell reports that there has been a trade, The Broncos logo pops up on the bottom left-hand corner of the screenSIZE], and with the 7th pick of the 2008 NFL draft the Denver Broncos select RB Darren McFadden, what, ******* it Mike what in the heck are you doing, Man I hate it when he does this, well I'm not even gonna watch this anymore!

Conventional wisdom says that if we trade up we get Glenn Dorsey, but when has Mike Shanahan ever been conventional. The year we traded Portis we traded up in the draft and I thought for sure the pick was gonna be Steven Jackson or Kevin Jones, WRONG!!! we select DJ Williams. The year we moved up like 3 times and Shanny took Jay Cutler I was like WHAT? we already have a QB! Then last year I figured we were going DE but when we traded up with Jacksonville to take Jarvis Moss when he might have been there at 21 I was left scratching my head
    !
Not saying that I think this is what WILL happen but with Mike Shanahan I can see it happening and would love it if we don't sell the house to do it, once again Mike Shanahan will surprise us!!!

Good though on that, really it is.
But I swear to the almighty Elway, if Shanny trades up and Dorsey or Ellis is still on the board with our pick.
He doesn't pull the trigger and get either one, I will burn all my Broncos stuff(about $2,500 worth) and leave the team band wagon for good along side with Barrel Man.
The man has torchered me the last couple of years with the draft and prop again he will do it.
So I hope there is hope he doesn't go with D-Mac if the DTs are still there.

Torchered you the past few years?

Like two years ago when he drafted Jay, Scheff, Elvis, and BMarsh?

That was by far Shanny's best draft!

Do the math, and we only need like... 5 more drafts to be the perfect team.

Eek, I like McFadden a lot and think he would help, but with Dorsey still on the board you have to take him!!!! If one of those two DT's are on board you take one of them not McFadden, but, I could see this being an actuall possibility, unfortuantley.

                  lol... good laugh.

McFadden is not even worth the 7th pick and our trade up when he can fall to the 12th and even then he's not worth it at the 12th.

For someone being a Stewart fan you so easy to fall to the DMac ban wagon.

Darrent McFadden an over glorified Edge runner who is the combination of Travis Henry's off the field problems and Selvin Young edge rushing ablity.

I would cry then I would be the first one asking Shanny the GM be fired hell just fire Shanahan McFadden, Jackson, Trading up all the worst things Shanny could do.
McDaniles Career as a failure of a Head Coach is being fulfilled. Termination of McFailure has happen.

Rejoice Bronco Fans we have taken our team back, but at a heavy cost.

No RB's in the first. Please no. That would be catastrophic. We need MAJOR help elsewhere. DL and OL. With the Mcree and Manuel signings the draft becomes much easier to see. It will be OL in the 1st, DL in the second or vice-versa. This is one of the best draft classes in recent memory for OL so I think Shanny will go that way first, then DT second. I'm not sold on Dorsey yet, most teams aren't either due to his health concerns. Chris Long going first to the Dolphins isn't set in stone either. Parcells may take Ryan with the first pick to gain some leverage on teams that want him, deal him out and pick up some more picks. Mark my words though, there will be no RB drafted by the Broncs in the first round. All of you DMac and Mendenhall fans, give it up.

Are you kidding? Have you ever watched the kid run? This is as uneducated a statement as they come.

McFadden is still the top rated player by pretty much every scouting agency out there. If he falls it will be a combination of team needs and character concerns; not because of his skills as a RB.

Based on our team needs I am not sure I want him either but if he was there at 12 we would be crazy not to take him. You think Minnesota is regretting taking AP last year. Even though they had Chester Taylor. Of course not. We would be in the same boat. McFadden would improve our running game immediately.

In my opinion it wouldn't matter if we can't stop the run but that is a different point to make.

But let's be clear on one thing. McFadden is rated much higher and will be better than you give him credit for. I seriously doubt everyone else is wrong and your Selvin Young analogy is more accurate.

Shanahan does always surprise in the draft... unfortunately it's usually an unpleasant surprise leaving everyone saying "W.T.F. was that???" Let's hope for no surprises this draft.

Oh my dear gosh...am I hearing this correctly? You're going to stop being a Denver fan if Shanny drafts McFadden over a DT? Who are you going to root for, the Raiders? I'm probably one of the few here who believe this, but Denver is a running team first and foremost and since Portis we have yet to have that top running back that scares teams. We have had mediocre runners at best that are easy to trade to other teams. We NEED that burner. I think that's the biggest glaring hole on our team and why we suck in the red zone. Everybody knows you run the ball in those situations and we haven't had that great back that could punch it in. With our two new S and our OLB we have plus Marcus Thomas and Jarvis Moss back in the lineup along with a new defensive scheme, I don't think DT is any longer our biggest need...it's something that can be addressed in round two. Of course I would love to get Ellis or Dorsey, but odds are they will be gone really soon with many other teams needing DT. I say we go for McFadden, Mendenhall or Stewart but that's just my :2cents:

I'm on the same page.... A star back, a returning and maturing cast, a superstar receiver and we got ourselves a deadly O. Don't have to rely on Jay's arm. Options!!!! And yes, the dline can use some help, but Laws is a perfect addition in round 2. If not Laws, there are a few others (Moore) that fit the mold. And like you say, if we could get our hands on Ellis or Dorsey, then even the most die hard RB folks see the logic of grabbing a force at DT. But we need a force. So if not E or D, then get a RB that will make things happen day one. (Unfortunately some positions in the NFL take 2 or more years). So lets get it now. I also believe that more of the right kind of people want to play for you when you are a contender, so when your stock rises, the future FAs like you more as well. Don't get that feeling this year. Lets get Denver back on the elite list.

I think the Cowboys are more likely to trade up with the Patriots for McFadden than the Broncos.
