I wonder when his roster bonus is due, since the Jets are not going to pay it?

We need versatility going into the draft so Shanny isn't reaching on players all weekend!!!
Agreed we need versatility, but look at Robertson's numbers.
To me he is an overrated and over paid player.
Also if we did re-do his contract I doubt he would want less then what he is getting unless he is guaranteed alot of money back.

To me I rather take more of a chance of the Draft Pick if the Jets pick up Foxworth, then to do an equal exchange.
Now if Robertson gets cut, then we can talk.
But as of right now Dallas, Washington, both New York and Tampa are really looking for CB postion, so we gotta good chance to wheel and deal.

here's a little more on it

Denver CB Interested In the Jets?
Newsday has learned that Domonique Foxworth, the restricted free agent corner for the Broncos, is interested and willing to talk to the Jets. But according to the player’s agent, no talks have occurred between either sides to this point.

Intriguing since Denver is looking for a 4-3 tackle and the Jets have one to spare. Foxworth though is a nickel corner, not a frontline starter, and with the Jets glut at the #2 CB / nickel role, it’s hard to imagine that the Jets would do the trade without at least a late round pick thrown into the mix coming back to New York.

My thought is, if the Jets could just get picks instead of Foxworth, they’d make that move first.

Can't just look at a players number to decide if they are a good player or not. Thats the result of Madden and Fantasy Football over the last 10 years. People only look at stats to determine play.

Robertson has not only suffered through an injury in the last couple of years, but the teams said he wasn't fit for the 3-4, and they moved to it. Personally, he's a quality player that could very well be worth a 3rd round pick. Although, his injured knee is a concern to me. But if he can play, he's better than any third rounder we could use pick up, and he's still young.

Lot of money for a mediocre player. Take a DT with the 2nd-round pick and you save money over either a 1st-rounder or Robertson, and you get somebody who can probably contribute just as much.

Robertson is also a malcontent. Malcontents tend to express discontent after a year or two wherever they go. So he would probably be raising a stink again in a year or so. He'd be another Javon Walker, somebody we'd pay to get rid of.

There are only 2 great DTs out there for Denver to get. Both of them are in the draft, not free agency, and both of them most likely are out of Denver's reach. Everybody else is good to mediocre. But just look at all the DTs Denver could get after the 1st round:

Plenty of players in that list could contribute as much as Robertson, for a lot less money and less fuss.

Actually this guy has never said a bad word about anybody or anything, he is a high-character guy and will be happy anywhere he goes as long as he can play.

The Jets are the ones throwing him away!!

The problem with Robertson is that he has been highly average for the Jets so far, which is not good for a first round pick with a big contract.

If we do a trade with the Jets, I would much rather have a trade for draft picks, our 1st and 2nd and Foxworth for Jets 1st and 2nd next year or 3rd next year and 4th this year

What about Foxy for Coles? I think the Jets are tired of him or they are atleast on their boards.

If he doesn't redo his contract for anyone that trades for him, then the team trading for him won't accept it. Robertson wants to go UFA, and he's going to get that wish pretty quickly. He knows no one is going to take his 11 million dollar hit, and thus he doesn't have to 'redo' anything. Once the Jets release him, he can sign with anyone.

Would be nice to add him to the DT lineup though. ALthough, I don't see it happening with a trade.
I was going to post thie Ravage. There is however, one fly in Robertson's "Show-Me-The-Money" ointment!

That is that he reportedly concerned the Browns because of a "bone-on-bone" condition in his knee. You can bet that news from the Browns medical team made the rounds of the league offices at light speed. Suddenly, you don't see that many offers for Robertson.

I don't know anything more about it, other than the fact that the Brows were reportedly "concerned" and the trade didn't happen.

Plus, Robertson was throwing a spanner in the works immediately announcing that "no deal" had been finalized. His agent had to be forced to admit that the two teams had settled on compensation. He really is angling for FA BAD.

When he hits FA, unless concerns about his knee stop somebody from signing him, he's going to be one rich dude.

He'll get at least $15-20 million guaranteed money and that $11 million will be converted into a signing bonus.

Is he worth that? Don't argue with me! I'm not the one throwing all that money around! Just look at what other DT FAs are getting and then tell me he WON'T get at least $15-20 million guaranteed money and a $50 million contract or something.

BTW: Get used to bitc hing about it, because Marcus Thomas is going to get exactly that kind of money (actually more by then) in 3 years time!

And probably 1/2 of you will be ripping him for "ingratitude" because he's going to cash in. Broncos better have a LOT of room under the salary cap by then.

If the Broncos want Robertson and are confident that the Jets will cut him rather than keep him at his current salary, they should just let him get cut. If they want a third round pick, they can hope that the Jets sign Foxworth to an offer sheet and then not match it. If both things happen, they can get Robertson and a third round pick without wasting time with a trade. Let's not forget that the reason the trade to the Bengals fell through is because Robertson wouldn't workout a deal that was amenable to the Bengals.

I would be interested in a trade with the Jets for Foxy for draft picks...there really isn't anyone left on there roster that intrigues me that they have in positions we need. The bad part is Foxy is probably worth at least a 3rd round pick and the Jets have traded it away already...so if I was the Broncos FO I would look for another suitor...but we have to get something in return if we don't keep him! We can't do what we did with Gold and Walker and get nothing in return.
